I am cleaning up my shop and would like to hear about ways to store about 8 20" pieces of 5/16 chain with hooks. 5 gallon buckets dont sound good cuz I wanna get the chain off the floor an I aint even gonna try to lift 5 gallons of chain. I like the idea of hanging them about waist high, but what to hang them on?

I always put them in a napsack. They never get tangled in there either.
16d case hardened nails work great.

i use a 1/4 x 3 lag screw in the wall and loop them around. it keeps them neat and out of the way

Hokey as hell, but I just keep my chains in a metal wire milk crate. Easy to pick up, stacks well, fits on or under the shelves and is easily accessible when I need them.
On my uncle's farm, they always hung them from hooks or nails in the overhead rafters in the shop, so they were all hanging in front of a wall. Easy to get dirty when walking past them, though.
