Its lunchtime and your on the PC at work anyway. This is the
other axle i found a few weeks ago at an old farm 1 mile up the road from me.Came with a rear axle and 4 16 inch wire
wheels.Lucky for me there were still 2 hubcaps attached so
i know what it,s from. Lets see if you guy,s can identify
this axle from a long gone U.S. automobile.

Exact same axle is sitting under a discarded trailer at my father in laws. I wanted it badly for a future speedster project until I saw the spindles were welded solid to the axle. Also look for a similar axle in a Robert Williams painting. The hubcaps on the trailer wheels say Dodge - so I say Dodge.

A Henway is about 6 lbs before you take the feathers off LOL

I was thinking some mopar product as well, but the four lug pattern threw me off. I had a Plymouth axle that was similar only round tube, they call 'em double-drop axles.

It could be from a Hosley Crotchshot

Grim, don't let the fact that the spindles were welded stop you. It only makes the challenge sweeter! Grind, saw, torch and repair then you've got it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here,s a close up of the axle. Looks like 2 axles welded together but it ain,t.I could,nt imagine a pre-war U.S.car with only 4 wheel studs but the hubcaps are a perfect fit.
I did some searching on google to make sure.
To bad this auto make is gone, they had some nice cars.

Use your imagination guys. This make had a straight 6 and
apparently for the straight 8 the factory bent the front axle to clear the sump.

I,ll make it easy for ya,all. That is if there are any auto
historians amongst us.When the first car came out in 1932 it was given to Orville Wright, the second car was given to
Amelia Earhart and John dillinger had one in 1933 because it had a straight 8 which was faster than the new Ford V8.

It looks identical to the original axle under the '23 dodge we have in the shed all except for the 4 lug wheels. The '23 is 5 lug.
