Will you be there the weekend before the Dream Cruise (Sat. Aug. 17th)?
That the weekend all the HAMBers will be around for the Broken Dream Cruise.
If you just want a spectacle, the Woodward Dream Cruise it, Aug. Sat 21st.
Wee girl and wife can go shopping and exploring the shops in the small downtown areas along the cruise route. I forgot what city we were in, but Ford had their bash in the town square... Birmingham?

Broken Dream Cruz would be either Sat the 14th or Sunday the 15th. That whole weekend and during the week before the cruz, Woodward is HOPPING with all forms of hot rods cruzn. In fact, during the week is a whole lot more fun then the day of the actual cruz cuz you can drive your car without having to sit in bummper to bumper traffic for miles on end.
If the decision is to come on Saturday the 21st or not come at all, I would highly reccommend attending. It really is a site to experience. 17 miles worth of hot rod partying.
If you did need to make one area a "home base" for the family, Birmingham would be it. Lots to see and do in that area for the wife and daughter, plus all the cars. I did hear though that Ford Motor Company did not rent out the downtown Birmingham area this year which means maybe it will be back to the way it was in the past with a very cool band in Shane park and regualr hot rods parked in the area instead of just the invited Ford products.

Denise, I drove through there last year on my way to pick up a 37 truck cab.
That area looks to be alittle rough....
Is the cruise on the bad side of the tracks.
I don't think I would want to spend the night in that area. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The Woodward Dream Cruz takes place on Woodward Ave NORTH of 8 Mile and goes all the way into Pontiac. If you stay north of 8 Mile you'll be ok, the big, bad, dudes in Detroit will leave you alone.
If your looking for a noraml priced room for a day or two look in the Madison Hts area, off I696 and Dequindre (sp?). It's 6 miles from Woodward and in a decent area. Anything on Woodward will cost over $100 per nite for a $20 room and thats IF you can find one left.
If ANYONE is coming in from out of town the weekend before for the Broken Dream Cruz or during that week, your more then welcome to stay at the house here. I'm about 15-20 minutes from Woodward and have plenty of room for HAMB friends. I'll be attending the HAMB Drags though on the 21st so I won't be in town for the actual cruz on Sat.

They have never seached me coming across in either directions but that doesn't mean they wouldn't search you. Depending on how much "stuff" your bringing, you can always "age" the stuff to make it look old and used and then say you bought them at a swapmeet or friends in the states gave you the old pieces. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Lots of HAMB folks and cars in attendance at the Broken Dreams Cruz.

I'm going to the regular dream cruise, going up on Thursday to check out Kettering U, then Fri and Sat on Woodward. It's sponsored by my mother's employer, Eaton so we go every year, that is except for last year. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

...ES, or, Electric Superstition Tattoo, is located on the west side of Woodward Ave, 1 block south of Catalpa, which is 11 1/2 Mile Rd., in "Beautiful Berkley". There's been talk about moving it, because we've already outgrown the shop parking lot, but, nothing's been confirmed yet.
...I'll talk to Jime' and Jeff about it as soon as I can, and relay the info to everyone...

V8, there's no duty on antique parts coming into Canada. You may have to pay tax though depending on the mood of the customs officer. They could nail you for PST and GST for a total of 15%. If you're taking it to Ireland you may be able to get the tax back. If you want I can do some more checking for you. Drop me a PM if you want me to look into it further. I'd invite you to stay in Windsor at my place, if I still had a place! We're moving into very tight temporary quarters while my new house is being built. Maybe we can hook up though for the cruise.

Hey, I don't know how much time you'll have, but Kettering is about a mile and a half from my tattoo shop. You could stop in and say "Hey" to Kritz and I. Might even be able to get Flathead Pete around, and Jdubbya puts on a Thursday night cruise about 5 miles from our shop.
As for Woodward, I'll be there for the BDC and the "real" dream cruise... (unless someone wants to buy me fuel to drive to the HAMB Drags!) http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ag, just found out we're leaving Thursday NIGHT, not in the morning and I am going with my dad and his gearhead buddies, all greybeards. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif I would wanted to check out that Thursday cruise or at least stop in. It's still early so I am unsure yet what is happening.
On Friday night we usually go to Pontiac for the show and parade thing, not to mention the stop light drag racing. Any place else more worth checking out this year?
