I've always been a car guy.

My dad raced dirt track as I was growing up and I spent lots of time in the garage helping. Grandpa used to run a small town garage in the 40's & 50's and many of the tools he used are still on the family farm.

Why do you care? You don't, but I thought it would help you all know what I'm about. My main toy for the last 10 years has been my 1995 Jeep YJ Wrangler:

I've installed 1-ton truck axles, a 5.0 Ford and a lot of other little things that matter only to me. I built all the motor mounts, driveshafts etc, and am very happy with the results.

I was attracted to this site because of the cool mods many of you have done to the cheapo harbor freight tools. The creativity and craftsmanship are qualities I want to learn and emulate. Very nice.

I've also always been interested in hot rods but have yet to start a project, though I know it is only a matter of time. I need to find a nice platform for a 4-seater. The wife and kids don't want to miss out on the fun.

I've somewhat of a soft spot for Jeeps myself. Although mine is a FSJ. I have a 88 Grand wagoneer that I'm installing a nicely built AMC 360 in as we speak. I used to work at a Jeep shop and have done some mods on them as well.

Another Jeep guy: My daily driver is a 97 TJ. Some mild mods -- nothing big deal, since I'm on the highway a lot. But I'm off the road all the time, too -- the Jeep is my farm "mule" and does everything from drag logs, pull farm trucks out of the mud, and haul water tanks.

There's quite a few guys on here from your area. When you decide it's time to start building a hot rod, I'm sure some of them will be glad to help you find one.

I really like the Big Boy there in Batavia. Ate there a couple weeks ago on the way back from the Pumpkin Run.

I missed the Pumpkin Run because of family issues. (new baby girl!)

I live about a mile from the Big Boy and we eat there nearly every week after church:D .

I don't know if you know the Alexander's from Batavia. Carl and his son, Nick (good friend of mine) always have something going on. I'm sure they would be glad to help me out.

I know a guy, Travis Roarke, from Olive Hill. He has a custom Jeep shop down there in his families barn. Does very nice fabrication.

Welcome. I used to play with a highly modified cherokee XJ for years, but got tired of beating it up then fixing it. Hey maybe if ya hang out on here we can rub off on ya
