Anyone ever bought anything from Grizzly Industrial?
Here's a link..... Good or Bad experiences? (http://www.grizzly.com/)
I was a big fan of Grizzly Addams, I didn't know he'd branched out into tools.

I'm somewhat familiar with Grizzly tools because I also do woodwork. That said, I don't own any but have heard that for the money, they are quite good AND dependable.
I asked the same question on the Fine Homebuilding site a couple years ago. Everyone agreed they are good quality.
i've had a stack of their toolboxes for a year or so. i looked everywhere (and i do mean everywhere) at rollarounds and wound up buying theirs. i'm really happy with it. the ball bearings roll really well. not as good as snap-on, but only a fraction of the cost.
i also bought a couple of welding clamps from them that are as good as vise grips of the same size/style but about 3/4 the price.
i walked around their showroom in springfield, missouri, for quite a while and was impressed that what they sell seems to be pretty heavy duty for the price. mostly cast iron stuff vs formed sheet metal. the stuff i "played with" had good movement. i mean stuff like drill press/lathe/mill/etc. handles worked smooth and didn't seem to have any slop.
next time i'm in the market for something i'll give them a serious look. actually i'm currently contemplating a cut-off/band saw from them. i've already decided what i want and am just awaiting getting that feeling that i can spare the funds.

The sheetmetal brake (box/pan) is what I was looking at.

For a great wishbook that is free, go to Grizzly.com and order their huge color catalog. If you have never seen one you will be impressed. It is very high quality and FREEEEEEE. Oh yea, did I say it is free!!!!

I looked at their box and pan brake too. The one they had on display at NSRA Springfield was rated lower than what I wanted but I think they have a better one but it is more expensive. I have several of their tools and they are all good. I stopped there Friday and bought a drill chuck. Since you can not go to the swap meet, you might consider a trip to Grizzly.
We have a large metal lathe from them at work and haven't had any problems. Seems pretty accurate too.

They're located about a mile from here.
I've bought a combination belt/disc sander from them; used it a lot the last four years with no problems. Also have a Grizzly engine hoist, hyd. press and a few other assorted items. Not the greatest designs or quality, but they've been good, useful tools at a good price. Haven't managed to break any of them yet!

<font color="red"> They bought the old Dewalt and Delta factories that had been in tiawan for decades...they build the tools there and ship them hear to be re-tested for tolerences and to have the motors rewound.....sold power tools for 3 years never heard any one complain when I sent them to Grizzly for their Shop tools.....have used some of their woodwooking stuff and have to say I was impressed(this coming from a guy who grew up on 60's Craftsman and Delta stuff)......I would buy from them WITHOUT reservation...hope this helps ya

The woodworking tools, a 16" bandsaw and a small shaper, I bought from them have given me good service. I don't use them all that much, but they do the job well when I do. I would buy from them again.

I have 7 of their dust collection systems and two 5hp table saws that work pretty good. We use the dust collectors everyday (commercially) but the table saws we use maybe once or twice a year. It's pretty good stuff for the money...

Actually, I think their tools are medium-fair quality. The little junk is good quality. But more importantly, their service is very good. When my movie prop building neighbor had a problem with something he recived, they sent a replacement along with a return tag. When something else showed up missing parts, they trusted us and send the parts no-questions-asked.
So, don't expect that you're getting American made (is anything?), don't expect the tools to be world beaters in quality, but do expect usable, appropiately priced equipment and good service to back it up.
Oh, and get the catalog too. They're HAPPY to send it out along with a bi-weekly flyer of specials.
BTTT.
anyone have anything recent to add to this?

Still made in China...
we use a lot of grizzly stuff at work, drillpress, joiner, some other stuff. It all seems to be no frills, but it works and is built stout enough that I havn't broken anything yet. It's also puke green.

My woodworking shop is full of Grizzlys. Everything over 12 years old and never a problem. All equipment came with pretty good set up manuals even with the translation to English.
Some of their stuff is great, and some is marginal. I'm a delta guy, have a full woodshop My buddy has grizzly. I compare the two on a regular basis.
Delta makes a great tablesaw.. Grizzly is a close second
Delta drillpresses SUCK I have 2 shops, and for the second shop I bought a JET . a great drillpress for half the money.
I have a Grizzly 5 horse dust collector system ... Excellent !!!
Delta makes a great 13in planer.. Grizzlies dont even come close.
Grizzly does make a great 20 in planer- go figgure.
Delta makes a great bandsaw. The Grizzly is a piece of shit compared to it.
As far as metal tools go....
I have a Grizzly 52 in jump shear... A bit awkward but works fine.
The Grizzly 49 in box and pan brake is a great tool for the money . does up to 18 gage nicely.
im looking at the 12" disc sander - and for using it on metal.

I'm also a woodworker and was a long time subscriber to both Fine Woodworking and Fine Homebuilding. Although I don't own any Grizzly tools, those mags would often review their products (wouldn't it be cool if there was a hot rod mag like Fine Woodworking that gave honest appraisals of performance parts, despite who was paying for the ads in the mag?). I have used Grizzly tools, however. For Chinese made stuff, I would say they are above avg. Seems the bigger the tool, the better it is. And they usually are not technology leaders. Like someone said above, no frills. Tools like a sanding disc, I would have no problem with Grizzly. Mini planer, problem look somewhere else.
