That blue one IS incredible and is now in the hands of Bill Lindig, owner of So-Cal Speedshop Texas. He's added it to his already sickeningly impressive collection of stock and rodded '32-'24 Fords. I heard that it was initally sold to a Mexican customer of Brizio, who had Roy put it back on the market and it eventually made it's way to Houston.

Some dude at the swap meet at the Nats in Louisville had 2 of them for sale. He only had pics of 'em. I believe they were both in Canada, and I don't think there were any prices listed.

I wanna cut one of those up so bad...very cool body style!

Chop the window frames...leave the top off...no hood...channeled over the frame...Ford wires on a dropped axle front, banjo rear...early Ford or Chevy straight six popper...three speed manual...

Grumpy, that is a Model A made to resemble a B400. '32 was the first year. I may need some direction here but the only other years to get this body style was the 33-34 and was called the C400? Is that the right designation?

Django, I believe 31 A-400, first year.
32 B-400, last year.
No C-400. Although there were a couple custom built rods that they called C-400s

Well the reason I posted this is I thought it would be cool to make a 28-29 A400 out of a tudor (I want a tub, the wife and daughter don't like that much wind), but upon seeing that last pic I'm not so sure.

Can someone tell me why that car looks like crap? Can it be saved? The proportions just look messed up to me.

Here's a rendition I did...

That C400 was a phantom? I had no idea. I need to build an F400. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You've got the right idea already why yours looks good and the A pictured does not. You used the flowing pillars of the '32, while this guy did it the lazy way and just cut the back of the roof off. For it to be successful, it has to have a flowing design. That A is just too boxy. A's are boxy anyway. That one just makes it worse. It looks like you brought the front post down at the cowl too. Nice. That is a very necessary detail that you will need to make the design successful, and not so boxy.

A real A-400 doesn't look so boxy because they use a late 31 deluxe cowl and slant-windshield with no model A visor. Same cowl used on the late deluxe 31 briggs body 4 door. The slanted a-pillars really help with the look of an A-400.
The A-400 actually looks more like a 32 ford than the model A it actually is..........

While we are on about rare body styles, anyone got pics of edsel fords all aluminium boat tail 32 roadster?
Ive only ever seen one shot of it, would be an amazing thing to reproduce.
had great lines,really swoopy.

I also think it helps to keept he roof tall since it is so open... Chopping it throws off the proportions in my opinion.. To me this is one of the best body styles ever produced.
