Now let me get this straight, you 'did' the smiling guy in the aircraft? Or have I read this all wrong? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hahaha!!

You have it partially wrong... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I didn't fly in the backseat yet... They have me on the list for quit a while... They pretty often give out backseat trips when we are on exercises or whatever.

What we did do... Is make a 5 SEGMENT AFTER BURNER powered trip down the 3 mile runway... Haha! Kinda like B'ville, but then on asphalt... In a plane!

http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have 3 words:

FULL POWER TRIP

Sometimes you see Formula 1 divers "drag race" against jets, and they manage to win too... That's pretty crazy. It's unbelievable how an engine like there is in this plane kicks you in the back of your seat! Imagine having this power in a car!

I can't wait to get on a real flight! We have an exchange pilot here form the USA. I help him out pretty often when he has engine trouble... He promised me that he will arrange it for me in the future!!

It's good to be in the Royal Dutch Air Force huh..!!?

That's scary... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The Dutch have an Air Force? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thats got to be a great experience.

I got to ride once in an M1 Abram Tank. We caught air at least 3 times. Those things can haul ass too...so much weight and such a smooth/quick ride....incredible.

Air force ?? what the hells that, we have an Air farce down here, more so since we got rid of our Skyhawks, I think the best we can do now is some guys on the ramp of a Herc throwing stones at the bad guys http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Needless to say looks like you had fun.....

Nads... This thing had some weird brake test/maintenance thing going on... Pilot had to do some tests on the runway...
We did a raffle.. If someone wanted to go for a ride, because it was a dual seater anyway. I was the lucky winner. I had to put on the whole flightsuit and everything for safety issues you know.

It happens pretty often that mechanics get to go on a flight too though! Cool huh!

Oh Sam... There soo much goin' on in a jet engine! It's unbelievable!
Pilots often come back with "small problems" that aren't "flight critical" you know... Afterburner blow out, oil press fluctuations, mach number failures, temp gauge out of limits, etc. etc.

It gets more scary it you're gona talk about engine stalls! Especially after burner stalls...
When flying an FCF, Functional Check Flight (after 200 flight hrs phased insp.), the plane flies on a 40000 foot level, close to idle, the pilot then has to snap to AB and at the same moment do a 180 degree turn at a 90 degree banking... In this corner of the "flight envelope", the plane cannot use all stages of afterburner and "AB engine stalls" often occur, because of "coking" (burned fuel in AB fuel lines).
I talked to an FCF pilot about this and he told me that everytime he has to make this manuevre he's about to shit his pance!

I can keep going on telling about stuff like this... One cool thing I wanna add is that one of these FCF guys is a good friend of mine... That guy is too funny! If you see him you might think he's the biggest redneck in town! Haha! Actually he is too! He drinks everybody under the table, plays in a punk band, does motocross, and used to be a truck mechanic! But on the other hand... he's one of the best pilots we have! Pretty different from all the other ones...

I can fly an F-16 in the simulator... But forget about all the navigation and everything that comes with it... It's crazy! And landing is DIFFICULT!!!
The real F-16 simulator is the best game computer there is! Normally I don't give a shit about Playstation and all that shit! But I love it when we sometimes get time to play in that thing!!

BTW... I'm not in the States yet...

Yeah, the ACES II ejection seat is a 0/0 seat - what that means is it will guarantee you a full chute (probably only half a swing under canopy) at 0 feet & 0 airspeed, so it is a viable escape route on a high-speed taxi. I'll bet the switch was in "Front" though...

I was wondering why the HUD repeater wasn't installed - high-speed taxi makes sense.

I partied hard with the Dutch F-16 guys at RIAT last year. We drank every single night until about 0730 when it was time to grab a quick shower & catch the bus to the airshow...

We fly against them every once in a while - great pilots!

Hey, don't discount the mighty Herk! You can drop more than stones out the back. We got this little thing called the BLU-82/B. It's only the largest conventional bomb dropped from an airplane! Of course, it's been upstaged by it's "replacement" - the MOAB (mother of all bombs - that's not the real acronymn, but it works for me).

Ya know - I really don't remember a whole lot other than my copilot waking me up telling me our general was coming by in a couple minutes! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I worked with a guy that goes by "Jabba" out in Red Flag a few years ago - he was pretty cool too. Wish I could remember the guys' names from last year.

That and random tattooed hooligans popping in and introducing themselves (Limey told everyone to stop in & say hi!) - it was a great time!
