Besides the famous NASCAR cars that have ended up in museums, what happened to all the other classic NASCARs that ran in the 50-60-70s?

A good deal of them end up as stripped carcasses tossed behind the shop or run over the scales for scrap. In the early days no one ever thought there would be a demand for used up race cars. I've heard that at one time almost every car that Richard Petty ever ran was lined up out behind their shop just like a junk yard. Seems I've seen a picture of it at one time in one of the circle track magazines.

Richard Petty used to scrap his old ones out behind the shop.
Then when they expanded they paved over em all.
Alot of his were saved for museums, but most were junked.
Someone mamaged to save his dodge drag car before it was paved over though...

As far as old race cars, I know where this an old 36 Ford car that looks like it was set up for circle track racing. It belonged to ex-nascar driver Ron Bouchard's father. Got a tube chassis, keg tank, seat made out of a 55 gallon drum, holes cut beside the rear window as vents, radiused wheel well. No nose though. Pretty cool car just sitting in the woods about 10 miles from my shop. I used to have pics of it somewhere.

Yup, many were junked, cut up, ect. Many early Grand National (WC) cars were sold to guys that raced in the lower ranks of racing. Some even made it to the local "Bullrings" around the country.
I wish more of the '60's cars were saved, especially that ran in the LMS series.
