ok,the other day i'm pullin my car into drive and about to step on the gas,and i look down and i see the gas pedal sitting on the floor...the pin that goes threw the plastic pedal broke in half and my question is,do i have to find an exact replacement?is there some generic thing i can use?or should a bolt work if i double nut it? (use to nuts to keep it from vibrating off) any help would be appreciated.thanks!

Not sure what kind of pedal you got there, but the bolt idea seems like it would work. But IMO I'd use a (new) lock nut instead of 2 jam nuts. This way you can control a little of the pivot tension, yet keep the nut from backing itself off.

Hack's set up looks like it would work great, but I think Slide brings up a good point... I'd probably go with that too.
I reckon a bolt that is the same daimeter as your pin with a nylock not should do the trick. Put some lubrication on there while your at it.
I lost the pin for the gas pedal in my '48 Ford so I stuck a drill bit that happened to be the right diameter in there temporarily. It's been there for 9 years now.
