View Full Version : minor setbacks
I haven't posted any updates lately,
the modified is on hold while I attempt to get the coupe back on the road.
sometimes pojects just seem to take longer and unforseen obsticles arise.
this is where I am at now.
it would appear that the cross ram intakes port flanges are at a slightly different angle then the heads.
I can't stand not having a hot rod when the weather is as good as it has been.
I am putting in it's place a dual quad that I had on the shelf.
not nearly as flashy but more then likely a better performing setup.
I will hang on to the cross ram and maybe at some future date will have it milled to fit.
here is the cross ram setup that is not happening right now..
and here is the lack luster replacement..

Looks cool either way, Paul! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I dig that you're always trying out new intakes and stuff with that car...it's kinda like your own private "Project X" build...just keeps evolving and wearing new and different engines and speed parts all the time!
(What happened to the Man-a-Fre?, I liked that look! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif)

I think I have solved the problem.....to many shiney parts have been known to make rods run that way.
MD's say the cure for this ailment is an immediate rattle can treatment of flat black!
this is by no means any big deal,
especially in light of the tragedies that some are living through now.

That looks like one bad ass ride! Hope to see it at the HAMB drags.

did your heads get milled when the engine was rebuilt? does yours have a 90% angle for the manifold? if so,an equal amount has to be milled off the side of the cylinder head, and off the bottom of the manifold.

Looks ok to me!Prolly runs like a bear. There was a little chevy rail at the h.r.r. that had a 2x4 wcfb setup. It looked like 1965 frozen in time. Not quite as zingy as a crossram, but period perfect. Now if I could only get my 6-94's to look as clean..

Some that come on here think they know it all and are ready to tell the world how it is done,
(not you slowpoke)
reality is, there is so much talent on this board it might be better to just watch and learn for a few years..
my indecisive hackery is inconsequential.
I am humbled by some of what I have seen here,
I love this place.

are those cowbells? if not, how cool would that be? then again, could just be that I grew up going to Columbus Clippers games.

hahaha
that's funny, it would be kinda like the farmers in the old CarToons comics!
my cousins played a lot of baseball, their mother, a full blooded German immigrant would ring a cow bell at every play and yell enthusiastically in her thick accent!

So that means if you haven't been on here for years you can't possibly know anything. HUUUUM and I thought the gold chainers were the ones with ego problems.
Very Very Interesting.
hahaha!
that is not at all what I was trying to say!
I have no doubt some new guys DO know it all and could totaly blow us all away!

Looks like you've got a fan club, Paul!
Anyway, I just wanted to chime in and say that I like the 2x4 setup the best out of all four setups. It says "business" where the other three say "eye candy".

Now that you've got that 3 holer Offy fuel block, you'll have to go buy a bunch more intakes and carbs to match. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Looks like you already have 2X4's and 4X2's pretty much covered. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Personally I like carbs all in a row unless you got 4 or more...
I really like the qued-up quads. I think it makes the car look meaner. I always thought the cross-ram was a little too busy for that car. Now when I look at it I see the whole package, not just the motor.
Love to hear it run... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
