I have a Ford T-10 thats giving me grief... It sometimes goes into third and usually will pop out once its in, second pops out as well and Reverse is a bitch to get into...Whats going on here? Is it just bad synchros? whats a job like that cost to repair?

Not a specialist but here are some things to check for an old 3 speed Ford:
- General noise when idling and clutch is out = front bearing worn
- Same kind of noise when in third gear = rear bearing worn.
- Missing teeth on any gear will cause noise when in that gear.
- What you are describing is caused by end play. You are probably letting off on the gas and the trans jumps out of gear into neutral. This can be caused by worn synchros, thrust washers, or maybe broken snap rings.
Aren't the T-10s pretty basic? Should be able to rebuild yourself if so inclined.

Seems basic enough, thoug i have never got into one,I did do my 41 La Salle though so I should be able to handle this...I think I'll get a rebuild kit for it...

Just a few things to think about. Does it only pop out when you let off on the gas? If you keep your hand on the shifter will it stay in gear? Do you have any slop in the linkage? Try re-adjusting and cheat toward the gear that's popping out. I had this battle on a 64 sprint. tim
