F100 brakes ...does this look right???

I'm tryin to put f100 brakes on the round 40 spindles. I think it's gonna take too much grinding to make it work. I check the backing plates side to side and this is the best way to have them. I started to grind the spindle but it's gonna need a lot more for the hose to fit.

Here's a pic with the hose. Is there a better wheel cylinder or hose I could run?? Or do I have to get out the big grinding wheels??

run a short piece of hardline from the wheel cylinder to the hose... save ya some grinding.

I did it once and don't remember grinding that much. Your's looks different. Are you sure they're F-100, or maybe F-1? Do F-1 fit differently?

it takes a lot of grinding...i like to spread the grinding out over a broader area ,instead of just a spot for the hose,so it is not so noticable...make sure the backing plates are on the correct side. here are the spindles/brakes on my 36 (passenger side,your picture was driver side)

I'd say 36er's wheel cylinders look a little different than yours. Maybe they have the hose at a slightly different angle than yours?

I ground my spindle like 36er did. But I can't remember if my wheel cylinder is like his.

Those wheel cylinders are slightly different.

The hose seems to run more horizintal on the ones 36-3window posted.
So-What's run down hill,creating more of an interference.

Probably just a different manufacturer of wheel cyls Unk.
The damned water pump I just put on the Chevelle was slightly thicker than the old one where the power steering bracket bolt goes thru it. Would have been nice to discover this BEFORE I put the pump in the car. Was a bitch to get in there and grind it down in place. Close enough only happens in horseshoes and hand grenades. Everything else you have to modify or adapt to fit!

I'm using F100 front brakes on my Roadster, my spindles must be a different year ( they are more squared off between the backing plate bolts )
I was able to get some Brake hoses that have a longer metal end on them at the cylinder side, the Hex is more than a inch farther away from the mounting surface.
That gave me all the clearace I needed, W/O any grinding of the spindle...

Thanks for all the replies and pics. 36's look like they clear better than mine. I stole the brakes off of Motormikey(gotta replace them soon)so I'm not sure of the year they came off of. I need brake hoses like Mutt has. I think I could get away with the amount I already ground out.

Metalshapes sounds like you have the later spindles. I heard they fit a little better than the round ones.

Mutt or Metalshapes...you wouldn't happen to know what those hoses are for or numbers??? Good parts men are few and far between these days. SoWhat - the hoses are for f-100's IIRC. I'll try to get the number off of it tomorrow, but as I said, they were worn off. If you call the company I posted, and tell them what you want, they will know. It also looks like you have different wheel cylinders too.

I dont know the number, but I can try and find out.
If I remember right they are the hoses for an early Ford truck, maybe even the hoses that came with those brakes???...

I do have one parts guy that is good and he said they are the same but the angle must be a little more than normal.

I think the hoses will solve my problem. I just didn't wat to grind too much off.

Clark, I think I found the boxes that my hoses came in.

I am not absolutly sure, so check before you buy.
I found 3 boxes, 2 with the Number BH23807, and 1 with Number BH25665.
The first ones ( 23807 ) are probbably what you need, but I gave you the other Number too, just in case...

I have the same setup on my `31 truck, I have the cylinders the opposite way 'round to you i.e. the hose exits to the rear. I think this way the whole cylinder fits better in relation to the kingpin boss, can't be sure without tryin' it but it looks that way. Get some hoses for a `60 F100, they have a plain bit around 1" long as it leaves the cylinder with the spanner hex on the end of that, should give you some more clearance. Kerry.

When I said the cylinders on the wrong side I meant the entire backing plate is on the wrong side. Now i'm confused, I have the same hoses as you tho' and you would'nt see mine had been ground at all without gettin' down and lookin'. KT.
