Fremont Ne. swap meet Sat,several of us went as usual ,a friend bought a hood for his project. He asked if he could leave it there for a couple hrs. When we returned the hood was not there. The seller told him that he had sold it too cheap so he resold it and here is your money back. My friend was enraged, of course it was cheap thats why he had bought it. At one time we were only one word away from blood and guts and mayhem. The seller finally decided he would give him all the money he received from the second sale but a couple of us still wanted blood.
Were we just acting like kids ,or doesn't there come a time when you have to get ugly?

The dealer was a prick and I'd be pissed too, but violence won't get the hood back. If he's a regular dealer there I'd make sure everyone I talked to knew what happened, the word would soon get around that the guy isn't a square dealer. I'd even mention it to the swap meet promoter, he sure doesn't want bad PR.

It's never cool to lose your cool, but that seller is despicable wretch. I agree with Donzie. Tell the promoter then spread the word.

When there’s no real consequences, people start doing what ever they want.

I missed this meet but it seems the last couple of years around here that has been a lot of that kinda stuff going on. I tried to buy an intake or something last year - guy shoots me a price - we are standing there discussing it his buddy walks up and shoots him a considerably better price. And he buys it in the middle of us trying to buy it.
There use to be some honor, and manners but that stuff is all out the window now. Plus he seems like people are just getting stupid - or maybe I an considerably less tolerant.
I would cracked him with anything I coulda picked up. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If someone buys something out from under you while you are hem hawing around , trying to talk the seller down , by offering the seller more money than you . . . that just means you were outbid so to speak . " well this guy says he will give me $XXX amount for it , what about you . . . ? " type of thing . If you take to long to make up your mind , you walk away empty handed . At that point you offer more than the other guy and hope he doesnt counter offer .
As far as the hood , he sold it to you , it now belongs to you . He sold it AGAIN to someone else . . . he owes YOU the money because it was YOUR hood . Fuck that guy regardless , scumbag . Sheesh I hate people like that !

I think I'd get the money that he sold it for (as stated happened) and then get all my buddies to hang out in front of his space for the rest of the swap meet. They could eat hot dogs and drink soda, fart a bit, maybe smoke and basically block customers and maybe even scare them off with the story of what just happened. Don't hit him in the face...hit him in the pocket book, yah? I think that would last longer.

From your experience, I have learned a valuable lesson.
Take the time to take it to my truck.
Then, back to wandering and looking.

Raw deal, yes. Next time haul it,even if it take's 2-3 guy's to carry it. Tuck it away safe and sound. Alittle extra walking. Peace of mind. Your call, not our's.

You mean he sold your friends hood???? He stole it away, as it didn't belong to him, and sold it for profit???
Asshole. He was kindly asked if he could provife security and a safe haven for a lonely hood, and the asshole sold it on???? It wasn't his hood to sell! What happens when he decides to sell your buddys car when he's asked to keep an eye on it some time???

I always bring a lock and chain to lock the bigger stuff in the the bed of my pickup. At least he got his money back.
The vendor still deserved to have his dick slammed in a car door.

Here's one for ya. Guy buys a set of guide lights off a guy passing his booth. Gives a hundred bucks for them because they're perfect. He stashes the lights in a box under his table. A while later he asks the guy with the next booth to watch his table while he's at lunch. He comes back from lunch and thanks the guy for watching while he was gone. You guessed it. The guy says No problem, here's the 80 bucks I got you for those lights you had under the table! Put your good stuff on the table, it'll sell better... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
