Don't know when, or if they changed, but the VIN on my 46 was on the motor. The body tag #'s were not used on the title.

the vin tag is next to the seat frame on the drivers side, held on by two screws. set in seat hang your arm down from your side and the tag sould be right there, the truck is a 48 to 50 . if ya have any problems i have a title and plate somewhere of of one of my stude pu i could sell you. get that bad boy home and start cutting it up !!!

Looks just like my dads 52. It should have 16" wheels with a chevy car pattern.

pretty decent truck, complete and mostly solid,w a really nice steel bed, cheap too, he wants the title and VIN tag ,email me,prefers a 48, but later will do,he is a rodder and wants to beat that old pre 48 thing.Chevy car BC -4 3/4 ? Great! he wants some wheels I got. What kind of front ends do these things have under em beam axle or coil spring/A arm? Any web sites about them?,checked the one Stude truck site that I could find and it seems to be no more that an inaccurate overveiw.

yep ,my fovorite place to check out unknown models(to Me)I even have one on the site(my 57 gasser), I just found a site that rocks for Stude PU's , The Studebaker Truck Page, has a chat/question board and there was talk of a bolt in pacer front end, The guy that owns this truck has been bugging me about my 57 Belair ,might consider it, if my bud backs out. According to the site he needs a title and VIN for a 49-52 A2 1/2 ton PU.I really like the one above and the orange one shown there .

Could,nt say,not my truck,I looked at the outside only in passing,It could be mine only if dude passes on it AND I can find a title. Is that a year difference ID trick? I'm thinkin tow vehicle for my gasser. But it depends on if bud takes it or not.

Mike- there's one in my area I've had my eye on, I'm not in a position to make an offer, but still compelled to show interested. Anyway, I'll ask them about ID location info, hope that helps. Looks real similiar to your pic, at least year/model (whatever year that is http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif ), but they let this one continue the open rusting process even though it's a daily driver. I just don't understand it, y'know? Makes me want to give it a new home, a new life. Will try and get info for ya.

A friend of mine has one that looks just like it. He is an antique'er though and won't Rod anything. His has an overdrive Cable on the Dash. He says you let off the gas for a second, pull on the Cable, and you're in Overdrive.

I thought it was pretty cool. I didn't know they had overdrives back when Gas was Cheap.

I understood about the paper from the first post. Can't help you with that.

Should have a beam with parellel leafs.

If it helps in the paperchase I've seen those registered anywhere from '46 to '51. It should actually be between '46 and '48. Perhaps 49.

The '50-'51 should have a big ugly grill that resembles an F-1 grill.

The chassis and suspension pieces were the same into the early '50s. the motors and trannies were also interchangable.

If it don't get ya dirty it aint yours http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

according to the stude truck page and car pics.com they show both the earlier model nosebleed type w vertical grille teeth and this one from 48 to 52 w the horizontal grille 3 slot A2 model(later)to 52, but I have a feeling that they are either mixed up or titled wrong, vertical 1944 to early 48 ,and horizontal 3 slot from late 48 to 52, but thats only an observation.Iding the truck is not so important as finding a title.I figure any A2 title(and tag) from 48 to 50 should be ok.

nothing changed on those trucks body wise (49-53) but the handbrake on the 49 (only) pulled up or up and down not sideways only thing that was diffornt that i know of ..

neat truck Rtarda, got a spare title? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif,should be able to get speedway to make a dropped axle using the stock one for measurements. I am thinking that red one w the purple flames has a neat headlight treatment-ala 37,38,39 ford(standard)

Wheel bolt pattern is 5 on 4.5.........same as ford passenger car. May have a locating stud to knock off before using ford or aftermarket wheels.
!/2 ton pickups used same wheels as the Stude passenger cars [5 on 4.5"].............I have one ford wheel on mine.
