Spoke with a fellow today at a local show and he told me that he was looking for a 48 F1 as this had a open banjo rear in it. Anyone confirm this or know if and what F1's had an open rear system??? Thanks in advance.
I can spell... Where/what the hell is Salt Lick????

that was my thought too... anyone else have an opinion??
while it is possible that ford might have used up some banjos in '48 trucks, i've never seen one. i bought clarence in '73 and have watched them, studied them, and read about them ever since. that includes history books and repair manuals. '48 trucks have the next generation rear.
'48 cars still used closed drive shaft banjos.

I had a 48 F1 pickup years ago and it had the 49 - 50 type under it. I bought it from the original owner (farmer).
Maybe it was a late 48..................I do not know.
I put a 9 inch under it anyway http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have what I was told to be a '48 truck open drive banjo rear. I haven't looked for a part number, but I will try to take a look today.
