I've got a 50 flathead to drop in to my 41 Ford Pickup. I see you're running the late model flat head to early model tranny adapter.

Here's a question for the HAMB. I would like to run my 50 with a modern tranny. Been told a 77-83 or so SROD Toploader Ford Truck tranny will bolt right up to the bell 50 bell housing.

Here's my question:

I'd like run the stock 41 clutch pedal to operate the throwout bearing. Problem is on 49 and up bell housings, you have a lever throwout fork, not the rotating throwout bar that comes built in to the older trannies.

Anyone had success using the stock rotating throwout bar with a 49 and up flattie? Is there some adapter available?

Thanks,

Mike

Two possible ways: '49-50 Merc or truck bell to Offy early Ford adaptor, which uses the Ford shaft, OR, there's supposed to be a bellhousing used on the first of the '51 Mercs that had the late trans (early '51 Mercs had the '49-50 trans) that has late trans flange and early clutch cross. I've never seen one of these, but they're described in Rumbleseat's online flathead book.
