Found this in Oklahoma driving home from Missouri. Of course I talked to the owner and he did not want to get rid of it. Man what a shame.

Bummer. That one's got the rare and highly sought-after beer bottle disposal cut into the passenger door.

No doubt one of those guys that's planning to "fix it up" one of these days. Sometimes I wonder if these hoarders have some weird recessive gene that prevents them from ever getting to the someday that they actually begin the fixing.
I suspect that guys with rusty Deuce tudors in their yards also enjoy using old plumbing fixtures as planters. "You know Doris, that old crapper would look so cute with some daisys growing out of it..."
Nice bottle opener comment though - thanks for the morning laugh!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

When you tell someone that, they tend to vapor lock. Their mind goes " What's it worth?, I don't want to sell it too cheap, What if I give him a price and he jumps on it?, I'll know I didn't price it high enough." Then the mind shifts gears to, " This guy thinks I'm a hayseed and don't know what old cars are worth, well if he wants it it must be valuable, I had better keep it so I can sell it and retire on the money in my old age."
It's always better to make an offer, I have bought a lot of old iron by letting the prospective seller know what I was bringing to the table. If they refuse the offer, and it is all your willing to give, make sure you leave a contact number. Been many times I have recieved a call thirty days later because I wasn't a tire kicker. Money talks.
Just my nickles worth. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Gordon's got a good idea. That is quite a pile of sweetness there. Go back a month later and bring some bucks. Make him a fair offer with cash in hand. Perhaps he is kicking himself now for not taking you up on buying it. Good luck!

So often the case...it'll all be worth a lot of money someday...yeah, and rust never sleeps. Unbelievable how many cars are rusting in hillside 'collections' and in the woods.

Dirty31 "Man what a shame."
I could not agree more. It pains me to see when someone has something and they do not care about it. Then get rid of it, let someone else have a shot at it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I always get a contact # and check back. It was a ten year span from when i looked at a 2 door sedan that the guy had no intentions of selling. I was out cruising one day and decided to see if it was still there, ends up it was'nt. Model A was moved out of sight with a roof built over it. He finally had figured out he was never going to finish it. Very nice body, 500.00 bucks.
I love when that happens,joeycarpunk

"letting the prospective seller know what I was bringing to the table"
AND make sure his WIFE knows, show the physical actual money (Bag of bills), AND be sure the WIFE (males lose all little scraps of paper) has your number to call as things sink in.

I hope someone who will actually do something with it moved it, or it propmts him to do something with it.
My neighbor four houses down, grandfathered into the neighborhood covenant, has quite a few projects everywhere, and then he drags home two of the ugliest 80s Mitisubishi vans?!?! In his garage, he has a built 392 Hemi, painted bright yellow with much goodies on (do to know about in) it. He has had it for over 5 years on the same engine stand. He moved the 49 Ford Coupe off the street while I was deployed. Ive never seen him make progress on anything.
Bleed and I spotted this car the same day over a year ago on seperate occasions on the way to the Roundup. It wasn't out front last time I rolled by in Oct. All of us have identicle pictures of it.
There's alot of tin there but it's all pretty rusty.
I stop everytime I go by. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Think about this. You were driving down the road and spotted it, right? Do you actually believe you were the first one to do so? From the looks of the picture it's been sitting there a LOOOOOOONG while. How many people do you suppose have made an attempt to buy it? 100, 1,000? My take on anything that's out in the open and desireable only fits into two catagories. 1. You can't afford it (because the price is at least 10 times what it's worth. Or,2. It's a conversation piece used to lure you in so the owner can talk to you and play with your emotions.
Now, if there is a third option I'm all ears. I've been "shopping" for old cars since I was 12 years old and I'm now 60. Every case so far has fit into one of these two catagories. There are a couple of slight variations on these two themes but for the most part you can put each case into one of the other.
BTW don't tell me the one about "I'm going to fix that old car up someday", that's just no.2 all over again.

Did I tell you all about my latest project? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll bet he moved it,,,,,some people have the," I got it and you don't" mentality,,,,,,and after a while they get scared someone will take it!
The fellow here that has all the ol' cars has moved the 32 3- window coupe,,,two times in the last 3 months,,,, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gifHRP

Here's a novel idea. How about knocking on the door and saying, "I see the old car that was outside is gone. I stopped a couple of weeks ago and asked about it. Did you sell it?" I'm probably way over my head here but I'm just tossing it out as an option to finding out what happened to it.
