Okay, here's what I want to know. Where are some hot rod events in the Houston area? They don't have to be big, but I'm having a really hard time finding anything going on.
Oh, by the way, Hi. I'm Chad. I've just sort of rediscovered my childhood fascination with hot rods and strangely enough, lowbrow Kustom Kulture art. When I was a kid, I collected bubble gum cards with Rat Fink style souped up cars driven by wacky cartoon monsters. I also built model cars by the dozens, and I wish now I knew what happened to them all. (My mom threw all of my cards away, along with all of my 3 brothers' football, baseball and basketball cards, dating back to the late 60's)
Anyway, the point is, I knew about Big Daddy Roth when I was 8, and it took me over 30 years to rediscover this whole world, coming in by the backdoor of lowbrow and pop surrealism and retro-tiki culture. And now, I want to reconnect, and go to some car shows, see some good bands and take pictures of it all (I'm a semi pro photographer).
So, tell me something good, compadres! Tell me there's something going on within the next month or so in Houston (preferably on the north side, since I live in Tomball).
