With intros poping up like zits on a 15 year old, I was just curious how the rest of you heard about the HAMB. I came aboard when Aaron Von Deluxe has his site going and a link to this board. I had quite a few posts and then one day had to re-register so I lost like 300 posts, anyways lets hear them!

I was looking for info on other rodders going to the Turkey Run in Daytona. Runs are more fun if you have other people to share them with.
This Topless Chick on another forum turned me on to the HAMB as a source of info.
I haven't been the same since.

I was un the restroom stall at my favorite gay bar "the ManHole" and as I was about to look through a 4" hole drilled in the stall wall, I noticed www.jalopyjournal carved above the hole...

I ran straight home and logged on...
I stayed online all night, sore ass and all...

Actually, I just stumbled into this site around December of '01... Registered right after the Round Up '02...

When Wife bought a first gen iMac and showed me where the "on" button was I found the "Sherlock" web search and searched for hotrods got a bunch of porn sites, and The Jalopy Journal, Rodders Roundtable, and StreetRod Stuff. I lurked at all of them for a while, ok a few hours, and signed up. I still check them all out regularly.

Before the HAMB,there was Ryans Jalopy Journal site.I found that surfing for hotrod sites;sent him some pix of my '40 coupe;he liked them and did a feature on it.I kept checking back for a couple of years and saw his notices about a hotrod chat line called the hokey ass message board; and the rest ,as they say ,is history. Of course, I lurked here for awhile to see how the site would work out.I've been lovin' it ever since !!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It was a long but typical journey...back in 81-82 I was absorbing every word of Henry Gregor Felsen's books through our junior high school library...got hooked on 'em and decided cars were my thing...told everyone I wanted a 33 Ford coupe with a 427 Ford for my first car. Parents shuddered, friends couldn't grasp diggin' something that OLD!

Saw the Eastwood & Barakat 32 sedan in HOT ROD magazine and knew that it was what I wanted!

Found a 40 Ford pickup behind the chicken coop on my aunt's farm...dug parts out of the garage trying to make it run when I was maybe 15...wanted to drag it home, Dad said it was too old and too far gone!

Got a Chevelle and played around with musclecars and 4x4s for almost 20 years...always trying to get into older tin, but unable to get anything serious started.

Brother-in-law found this site after bagging my Street Rod type mags...insisted that I would really love it here. I was new to computers and wrapped up in other pursuits, so I resisted. After he sent me the link a few hundred times, I peeked in.

Here I be! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

(Either that, or one day when I was doing Leif Garrett cover tunes at this bar for Manly Men, I spotted a tight circle of guys in the corner sportin' Michigan Gay Bitch t-shirts...they liquored me up, blindfolded me and dropped me off here!)

Same here,,,,,,,,,lookin' for hot rods and found Jalopy Journal,,,,,,,I looked at the HAMB a few times.

I didn't know how to type or spell worth a crap!(still don't)
and thought my typing was being viewed as I was huttin' and
peckin'. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gifso I figured why waste other peoples time.

Then comes Deuce Roadster and tells me how it works,,,,

He also informed me to post an intro!...I recieved a great welcome,,,,,,,,,,,but, not knowing a lot about message boards,,,,,my intro was in all CAPS.

After being told about caps lock and that post in all caps was screaming I learned a new trick.

I am not on any other message board and don't care to be.

Thanks for all the help. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gifHRP

I was told about it by Daddy-O at the 2002 Detroit Panel Jam. I had just met him and we're talking about pinstriping and hotrods. He starts telling me about the HAMB and the Friday Art Show. He then tells me theres 4 other HAMB'rs there and one happened to have a HAMB t-shirt on.

I'm pretty sure it was Ripper that got me on to the "Rodder's Round Table" back when it was still on the Cyber Cruzin site. I think that was '98 or '99. As good as the RRT is/was, it was a little staid and a lot of the people on there were old (and wise).

At some point there was a post about all the shenanigans going on over here. Of course, like a train wreck I had to look. Five or six years later I'm still looking!

Not sure exactly which incarnation of the HAMB I first registered on, but it may have been v2.0. I do remember some rather long post heading. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Mention off the Jalopy Journal in Rod & Custom a LONG time ago.
I lurked for a long time. You guys are as cruel as 5th graders! And that's no shit mean. But if you fly low and lurk, it's like keeping your mouth shut around the oldtimers, you soak up somethings of value. Funny, if you check in here often enough, you'll be able to really help someone or get the answer to questions you didn't even know you had to ask yet. Learned about the Rocketeers here too.
There seem to be HAMB'ers everywhere, and just like their cars, they all look different.

I was sitting in the Christian Science reading room in Hysham, Montana when I heard this voice talking behind me saying how cool the HAMB was and that I should get my mind right and Get With The Program. So I went to the Hysham Honey Bucket Cafe and ordered a HAMBurger. Well my life was changed, I got the drizzlin' shits and darn near passed out. When I came to my senses I went home and was on the computer looking for The Boom Boom Room but gave up cause the Feds had shut it down. Thought maybe some Ford chat room would help my sunny disposition and VIOLA! Some dude says checkout the HAMB. Then it all made sense! Thanks A/FX Comet for turning me on to my latest addiction.

Last year, El Jeffe talked me into going to this thing called the HAMB drags. I didn't have a clue what the hell it was, but was assured I meet lots of cool guys with a similar passion for traditional hotrods and customs. I get to Hotel in Joplin, and spent hours outside talking to people and taking pictures a bunch of cool rides...with a few of them still wearing B-ville salt. My kinda guys. Especially when they told me that it was ok to not wash my car for the drags....cool!!! These guys kept asking me who I was...and stupidly I kept saying "Reggie". Looking back on it, I must have seemed very, very stupid....to be at the Inaugural HAMB drags by accident and without a clue as to what this was about.

My good buddy John B from Ky came to Michigan for a visit in Jan 2001 and showed me the HAMB. I didn't care for it at first, it looked to me like everyone was mean and nasty to each other, especially to the "newbies".

I did lurk from time to time and eventually Germ convinced me the HAMB was where I belonged. I did a detailed intro, including photos of my cars, and was accepted right away. I've never been more addicted to anything in my life.
The HAMB is home.

I was looking for porn on the internet. When I searched for "Gay Bitches from Michigan," this site came up and I clicked on it by mistake. Then it pirated my home page and everytime I try to change it something else, when I reboot I'm back to the HAMB. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But seriously, I would pop in since the Arron Von Deluxe days and read occasionaly but never kept up with it. When I bought my '26 last year, I started reading more and got hooked.

Being a rodder for over 40 years, it was only natural that my first searches on my first computer would be about hotrods. Two sites popped up almost every time....HAMB and Cybercruizin's RRT. I've been here ever since.

My Homeezz abomber30, Randy D, and Irritant, were always talking about it, so I checked it out and finally posted about a year later after I got burned out on Battleship. Now this is how I kill time at work.

I got a sign, like the Virgin Mary appearing on a wall in the form of a water stain. While pushing the '32 into the new garage a couple years ago, the leaky nailhead left a trail of dots and dashes of oil on the otherwise pristine concrete-- looked like this:

.... .- -- -...

The kid's Boy Scout training recognized it as Morse Code. And here we are.

Steve.

I first saw it through searching the internet for good car sites. I lurked for a week or two and then moved onto another called www.shoeboxford.com. (http://www.shoeboxford.com.) When a regular on shoeboxford suggested that we should check the H.A.M.B. out I decided that I should give it another try and man am I glad I did! This place is hoppin' and I hope that I can be a helpful contributer and get rid of the FNG moniker.

I just found it about 3 days ago after a google search for "rat rods" turned up the HAMB drags list. I was looking at some pics and discovered the drags are at Mo-Kan, right near where I live so I now i've joined.

I went to Ngo Long Dong's Weird Oriental Shit Emporium in Little Saigon to buy some Cheng Shin bicycle tires. I was wearing my 6" cuffs, chain wallet and Rob Halford boots, he said there was a place on the internet that I might like, it was Aaron's web site on how to be an undercover groper of your friend's girl's tits. It was through that web site that I connected to the HAMB.

And boy am I glad I'm here.
