If the intake is drilled and tapped for the carb studs in the Holley pattern, then go ahead and bolt the carb on with a good Holley base gasket and it'll be okay.

(If the Performer manifold hasn't changed in design since about 1988 when I did mine that way!)

Hood clearance was an issue in my car, so I tried it without the adapter and it worked perfectly. If I recall correctly, they just made the intake's carb opening a little wider at the rear to accomodate a Q-jet if you decided to run one.

I have the same manifold. I'm using a squarebore holley 600cfm. I don't use an adapter, just the thin steel plate "gasket". Glenn

<font color="green">As said,

It should be fine.

The adapters are really meant for mounting a Spread bore carb on a square bore mani.

Can anyone tell me why Eddie makes their performers spread bore and they build square bore carbs?

I can't figure it out.

They designed the Performer intake YEARS before they got into the carb biz, Rash!

(It was an evoloution of the "C4B" or something like that).

They musta wanted to leave it open for dudes who wanted to run Q-jets OR Holleys and Carters!
