Sounds like you want some real old school paint techniques,
like panel fogging,spider webbing,Freak drops,and lace painting.

Barris put out a series of books about 10 years ago,one of them was on painting.
Safariknut has lots of old school paint pics.

Try a google search on Meyers Manx. It's the original dune buggy.

I'm guessing most of them actually ran the factory Gel Coat instead of fancy paint.
