1.5 inches makes a huge difference. That's how much I jacked the back of the body up. Still have to trim the hood back. Need a radiator, driveshaft, brake lines, wiring, seats, firewall and floor. Most likely lots of other little bits I'm forgetting. Oh yeah, exhaust. Too bad this thing won't make it to MoKan again this year.

Another shot. Oh yeah, I still have to finish the dash and move the column drop too...so no time for a windshield.

Bitchin! That is looking good. The back of the body lines up nice with the top of the gas tank also, it all just flows together. Now with some bigger rubber on the back you will be looking good.

Can you get somebody to trailer it to Mokan, or flat tow it? It would still be a goal to get more stuff done, even it it isn't running.

My goal has been the Hop Up Rattle Can Nationals this year. I don't think I will make it running, but I still may drag it out there. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Screw the winshield. The next parts shipment includes some reasonable approximations of M-1944 goggles. If you're a vegetarian, you'll need to learn to keep your mouth shut when driving a winshieldless roadster...lots of flying protein in that wind during the summer.

Screw the windshield. You can be in my "I aint got no windshield" club.

The car is awesome.

Man, ther's no excuse for NOT making it to Mo-Kan with that thing.
I keep telling you, anytime you a fire lit under you, call me over.
I'll work you into the ground...
Oh, and it will get done that way...

No excuse man, no excuse...

Bruce, you're funny as hell. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I'm not giving up or anything, but I have to be realistic with my time and resources. I might be able to get it running with the bare minumum. No lights, no gauges, no tags. How many days are left exactly? About two months?

raven61 - I know you're relentless, I'm just worried I might get embarassed again if you ask where the jack is and I have to point to a cinder block and a long stick or something. Hey, at least I have a proper drill and a few more bits now.

Maybe we could have a "Grimlok thrash" in the middle of July? Hmmmm, Saturday or Sunday or mid-week? Just give the date and I am sure that a bunch of local guys could show up.

It looks good with the flow lines adjusted.

"Need a radiator, driveshaft, brake lines, wiring, seats, firewall and floor."

Man, you're not talking more than a day or two for this list.
Radiator - I've got one from my '54 that might work in a pinch.
Driveshaft - That's all you baby.
Brake lines, wiring, floor - Porknbeaner and I can decend on a Saturday and iron these out.
Seats - You can use my aluminum 'bomber' seat (one) to get you by. It's be a while until the Paige needs it.
Firewall - Man that's just some metal...

See?
No excuses man, no excuses...

Sweet. Amazing what a few inches will do to improve a car! Please tell me you're going to buck the rust-look trend and paint that thing something glossy, kinda like how Stu Hilborne might have done it...

Oh, and I'm with the other guys--screw the windshield. No, fuck the windshield. It looks bitchin without it--loads of cool lakes vibe and then some...

choprods - I only have the four rings that are on the wires - no spares. Sorry.

I've got a few vacation days left so I might take a couple here and there in the next month. Weekends are mostly reserved for wives and babies - but there might be some time to sneak in there too.

The body is ROUGH. And the more I look at it the less sense it makes to try to make it any better. So I'm just going to knock the welds down and it will get primed and painted anyway...just like the rest of it. Look at the hood in that 3/4 shot. Pretty smooth huh?

Those pinhead-sized dents and ripples are character marks, man. Just think of it at "glossy patina". http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yeah. Great. Glossy patina. I think I may have just earned a spot next to the Tie Dyed Michigan truck and that guy who stuck bird shit on his roadster. Thanks for nothing. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
