I don't like it either. Seriously.
I don't want to read about VWs and 4x4s. So if you want us to go goo-goo over your projects, it ain't gonna happen. And all of those "Leave him alone ... I LOVE ALL CAR" hippies can go sit on it.
I'm sure you're a handsome and charming man, with incredible fabrication skills and envious bedside manners, but I simply can't trust your judgement or taste. Your choice of vehicles is entirely wrong for this forum.

Not a Hippie, but I do love ( and own )different syles of cars, as well as Trad Hot Rods.
I try very hard not to bring any of them up, unless it ties in with something which was already said by somebody else.
There has to be a balance between respect for what this board was created for, while still benifitting from the knowledge that other car guys can bring here...

So, Lets get it over with. What do you have for sale and how much are you asking. That's what just about everyone who comes here without a traditional rod or custom is looking to do, unload some of their unwanted projects or parts. Not to be hard on you But I can't for the life of me figure why you want to join us with your interests as expressed by what you already own.
Frank
Really, it has to stop. I like lots of types of cars like many guys. But why dont you at least FAKE it and tell us you want to buld a Model A? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Otherwise go 4 wheel in Florida.

im a member of the volksrodders forum, and those guys really think that this site is the shit for ideas on their own brand of hot rod, and there is a hell of alot of talent on that board. i have a bug, also a 50 buick, a 70 c10 panel and a 74 bmw 2002, and there is a place on the internet for each of em, i dont think we should give em the boot just cause they dig bugs, he said his interest vary from day to day, remember... the toes you step on today may be connected to the ass you have to kiss tomorrow. he may be full of knowledge on the whereabouts of some of that vintage tin some of us are hunting. thats just my .02 worth

I KNOW I won't get a friendly welcome from y'all; I was warned. BUT, I really don't care; I came here to learn, and network with fellow gearheads. If you don't want to, fine by me. I have VW's, quite a few of them, and they have appeared on the cover of National Magazines. But that's not what I am here for. As I said on another thread, I would give my "teft lesticle" for an all steel '34 3 window, with a blown, injected Ardun motor. My brother-in-law has a 34 5 window, '36 truck, '57 supercharged T-bird, and an "R" code '64 Galaxy 500, so I am fairly well-versed in Ford-ese. I am putting together a rod, and have the chassis done- Magnum 5 inch drop I-beam, Posie's spring, hairpins, early Ford wires, wide whites, Wilwood discs, and guess what? It's all on a VW floor pan, with a 10 inch extended wheelbase, to approximate a Fiat Altered. It will weigh in the neighborhood of 1300-1400 pounds, and have a naturally aspirated, no N20 200 horsepower- do the math. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Again, I know I am an outsider. I am NOT here to try and convert anyone to VW's. I am here to learn. Teach me or not; it's your choice. I'll be lurking, reading, and if I think I can be of some assistance to someone, I'll give assistance.I've already PM'ed 2 people on this board, that were looking for parts or cars that I happen to know about.AND, I have my eye on a 1948 or '49 Thames Panel truck, sitting in an Avocado grove about a mile from my house- 25% engine setback, CAE straight front axle, narrowed Olds, set up for SBC, it's an old Gasser that I would just LOVE to resurrect....

The HAMB is for traditional rods and customs... and that's about it... once you log on and have a few posts under your belt about THR&C, ok, maybe a FEW HUNDRED posts about the subject... THEN you can "come out" and post off topic stuff.
Until then, take the 10% off Vasoline cupon and get the fuck back in the closet.

Whats the big deal with owning a VW? You can't rod a VW? Bitch Please,I seen many a VW rip the shit out of Deuce Coupes and A's at the track and on the street. And if I remember correctly there was a chopped VW in one of the coolest movies ever " Hollywood Knights" and as for the Willys, well shit during WWII rodders hopped them things up all the time. And oh yeah they mentioned that in "Hollywood Knights" also. Now I know all the conformists and followers and plain Marcus Haters are going to jump on the bandwagon here ..Fuck it!..Please feel free!..But whats right is right.. Marcus, I'm not a hater, nor am I a Ruler(tm). I'm a nobody.
It's just that, IMHO, somebody has to draw a line...somewhere. Or else next week we'll be taking about traditional Hummer2's or something.
There are PLENTY of other places to go for people to talk about VW's. As has previously been said, this message board is for TRADITIONAL HOT RODS and KUSTOMS. Sure, many people that belong to this group like Volkswagons, this IS NOT the place. Whether or not you class them as "traditionial" or not..
I don't want to read about em.

Maybe if you put a Porsche 2.5 in your drag bug and saw how much faster it was you could appreciate the glory that is the 6 cylinder. I'm just wondering what is bringing these guys in here. It's easy to see Traditional Rods and Customs is the focus. Every now and then you get off topic a little but you have to be grounded in the aformentioned Traditional Rods and Customs. You obviously have no respect for what we have here and think your VW is better than our old rides is a bunch of BS. And I don't give a flying f#ck about fitting in. I hate to shun any good talent that may be useful for us all as a group. But I sure as hell don't care to see a string of technical posts of how to make adaptations to four wheelers and VW's either.
It's funny how we can except the Anglia as traditional but far be it for us to accept a VW. I think it all goes back to how we use to make fun of those things as kids.

I've got a good VW story for you. Around 1976 my dad bought a brand new pop top VW bus camper. It was a real doll, had a stove and a fridge and all that good shit. Anyways there was a retarded girl that lived in the neighborhood and she and a bunch of other kids wanted to take a gander inside the thing.
Anyhoo the poor retarded girl decided that she needed to go pee right then and there. And sho 'nuff she let loose and whizzed all over the brand new linoleum floor. Mon and dad weren't very pleased, they were even less so when I started dating the girl a few years later.
And with that funny story I invite you, 57drag, to go fuck yerself.

Okay guys here is a little info for you about NE Fla. & this guy
1) He grew up in Jax, the family has been here for many a years. 4x4's is all there is here so that's all he was exposed to.
2) There isn't much, if any hot-rod related let alone "Traditional" car anything around here. This is the 1st time he has been exposed to Traditional
3) He has skills, stuffing a V-8 anything into a Willys is hard - I know I've had 4 of them
4) He came on here being friendly - just at the wrong time with the VW stuff.
It's sad to see everyone bag on the guy, it reminds me of a decal in Will's Honky Tonk in Sarasota (biker bar)
"IF YOU'RE NOT LIKE ME I HATE YOU" a big message there - think about it.
Anyway - welcome to the HAMB - take the hazing and come on back look listen and learn

Like it or not this IS a message board about traditional rods and customs. That's just what it is. So rolling in and talking shit they way you did a few posts back won't get you anywhere here - can it. You can choose to make this your favorite spot to hang out or a place you never want to go again.
