1955 was the last year for the 331 and the beginning of a bell housing that lasted till the early 60's. I have a Hydramatic behind the motor now, but I'm wondering what my stick shift options are. Please pipe in if you have experience with this.

La salle 3 speed: Bolts to the 54 and older motor, but will it bolt to the 55 and later block? Offy adapter?

Ford 3 speed: It was an Offenhauser # 0303, but its no longer available.

Ford 4 speed?

Chevy S10 T5 - Bendtsen’s Transmission makes the kit for $650 plus the pice of the clutch and the tranny- Pretty pricey, but it seems like the best option.

Anything else available?

What year is your Hydro? Are you going to use it? Is it a 4 spd, "Dual Range"? Davey http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I knew the vultures would circle-

The tranny works great, pulls like a mule, but I kinda miss that 3rd pedal.

Yorg definately would have first dibbs- He's got sweat equity into it! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You cannot use the LA Salle/Cad/Olds stick behind a 55 and up motor period. You would nee an adapter to do it.Man just get rid of the 55 mill and get a 54 or older block and go from there..you can use the cam and lifters heads whatever you want from the 55..It would make life simpler! I gave you the hook up on all that stuff.. Or you can buy my set up for $6000
