I am going to channel a 27 T eventually, and I have a question or two. On my T, the body panels are crimped onto the subframe. When I channel, should I just leave the subframe intact and build another subframe above it? Or should I just weld risers on the stock subframe and drop it that way?

I've been looking up everthing I can find, but it seems like everyone eliminates the stock subframe altogether and just welds in a new one out of square tube. How is the bottom of the body supported then? I'm confused.

I used the second of your methods - using risers with the existing subframe.

Did you have to cut away part of the front of the subframe to make room for the frame?

All depends on the body /frame , break out the tape and see how wide everything is.

on my 31 a i made some channels out of 1/8 to run on top of the frame rails and welded the body to them with 1/8 plate then made other pieces to follow the frame leaving me a 1/4 gap the legnth of the frame .
