I don't know if you guys have seen these or not but they should be in production yet this year. Of course they won't be clear like this rapid prototype unit. I'm told they will be just under $400.

How cool would it be to run a clear one?

Lets see. We're buildin' a high rev small block with 6 97s. 400 a pop that's 2400. Hmmm carbeurators vs stack injection.
That is cool though. Whos buildin' 'em? I haven't seen a brand new 97 since about '68 or so. And it was in a real old box on a shelf in the back of Dorman's Speed Shop.

At 400 bucks a pop, I'm afraid they're going to go broke. Everyone thought they were scairce till the price went up to 100 to 150 bucks a core and they came out of the woodwork. Now every table at every swap meet has a few sitting on it. The price on 97's is going to crash again when the fad wears off. Goldchainers are still going to buy from guys that sell complete ready to go induction setups, not individual carbs. As for restorers, all the ones I know wouldn't give 400 bucks for a complete running Model A. They sure as hell wouldn't spend that much on a carb. That leaves the hot rodders. They'll keep buying 100 dollar cores and 20 dollar rebuild kits. Buying 2 to 8 carbs at 400 bucks each won't appeal to them. They'll spend that money on a blower instead.

And you still have to add an intake, linkage, and scoops for another $700. Does it have to be 97's to appeal to y'all? It would be easy to adapt a carb like a Marvel off old lift trucks. And it has the same simplicity of only an idle and main circuit. Or with only 4 carbs a Pinto carb. (I'll have that setup running soon.) A cheaper EFI than Mooneyes is easy with a Megasquirt and only one injector per carb and a cheap stamped tin top with integral scoop atop a cast base. Of course all these will eat up $1000-$2500. Or does it have to be the real McCoy? And is cost the deterrent to more roddrs having a multi carb or is it the sacrifice of manners and power for looks?

i think smokinjoe got it rite on the head..it's cheaper to buy a complete setup at a swapmeet and get the kits than it would be to even buy just one of those things.
Creepy
Old English Enfo Zeniths are a dime a dozen, I bet you those would work just fine on a multi carb setup.

Well Guys it's too soon to tell. I was talking with Clive a few weeks ago and we decided to build the bases here. I suggested that retail should be closer to 300.00 so we will see how it goes.

Hey, Porknbeaner, I'll bet Dorman still has that 97 on the shelf. And probably 2 dozen more stashed upstairs!
