ok, so a few hambers have pushed me into posting this here. it's a 92 chevy p/u that i put a 49 ford dash into. the rest of the interior was handbuilt. gotcha sewed the seats and laid the carpet down for me.
if ya like it, cool. if ya don't, well i'm sure you'll tell me.
it looks much better than the tweed that was in there!!

all the chrome trim on the doors and dash, is handmade by me. i know it's "billet" looking, but it really brings eveything together.
since these shot, i found a descent radio and put it in as well.
hop ya like it, and thanks for looking,

Nice work. How did you make the console? Is it steel or fiberglass?

Smooth work.

It's not to my taste, but it looks like you did a helluva nice job on the install. Must've taken some serious work.

I saw this truck in person at Matt's shop a couple of weeks ago....
He got skills!
The workmanship and details are insane!
I couldn't stop staring at the dash when I was there....
It was so strange to see the dash that I am used to looking at in a late model truck.
Matt, show em' the Dungeons and Dragons / Singing Swordsman truck pics....
Better yet, take some pics of the sword truck and post them on an intro as your ride..... That would be fun to watch! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Good work man!
See you soon....

It really is great work.
Not to hijack the post about the dash (which rules), but do you have any shots or any more explanation on how you designed and built the console? I haven't worked with fiberglass, but I really like those wild consoles in customs (Rick Dore-style) and I'd love to see how it's done...

Is the style now to have the speakers exposed like that?
I had an idea in my head as to how the Corvair dash was going to be done in my 46 Ford, That shows that 2 different styles can be mated.
Are the seats washable so you can get the scunge off after you get through loading the bed with filthy 50-70 year old car parts?

Sort out your photos from the console build and/or the dash install and do a tech post. I'd like to see that. Do another for how you fabbed up the chrome/polished metal strips and we're good to go.

To say that Mitch is bummed is an understatement. That was the first new vehicle he had ever bought (when he was 18). He was pretty devistated. But he is already trying to figure out what to replace it with.

Matt-
What we all really want to know is.....
Did you get paid for your work BEFORE the fire?
Also... since no one else will have the balls to ask...
Did YOU wire the trailer?
I know, I'm an asshole http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

now THAT is classy. nice workmanship too. thats my kind of late model Kustom. the style i've been trying to push my sport/minitruck customers to for a while. i have one buddy that is doing some neat things, that are along those lines, to an old body style Ford Ranger. i suicied the doors on it a while ago.

that really sucks to see it after the fire. im always ok with selling a car and never hearing about it again but when i hear it got destroyed it upsets me.

ok, first off, i did not wire the trailer, asshole http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
secondly, until the insurance claim is taken care of, i cannot speak about the cause. the fuel cell is the suspect, but until the investigation is completed, that is all i can say. we're pretty sure how it happened, but a law suit may soon be pending and i do not want to get into the middle of things.
the tanks were compressed air for the bag setup. they had blow off safety valves to release the pressure. it really sucks that this happened. as he was gonna retire the truck after this season. we did manage to get it shot for another mag feature before the fire, so at least people will get to enjoy it once more. it was a fun job to do, and i'm glad i got to work on it.
the insurance will be sorted out, the trailer has been replaced with a nascar style stacker and toter home, and mitch is already talking about a new project. possibly a 60 el camino, if ya know anybody who's got one......
matt
oh, and jeff....yeah, i got paid....on friday, the day before it happened!

Very imaginative work there...sorry about the fire but my focus is on your execution of that dash job....again, a vast improvement over the plastic shit they put in new vehicles...Nice job.

Watching Matt work on that truck was the toughest thing I've done in a while. He was slavin' day and night to get it finished and all I could do was satnd around with my hands in my pockets. It tends to piss people off when I work on cars in my uniform. As for the seats being washable, yeah they WERE. The inserts were done in a new material called Symphony suede. Our supply house just got the material a few days before Matt and Mitch went to pick up supplies. It was really cool stuff. To bad more people didn't get to see it in person. I've got some before and after pics of the seats I'll try to post.
