I am negotiating purchase of a frame that the seller claims (they have no idea, a "mechanic friend" told them) is a '32 "B" frame. From this pic, can anyone confirm or give a better assessmsnt of the year??

thanks in advance.

It looks like some sort of shortened Model A frame to me.

Hi,
I agree it is a shortened A frame. It may be just possible to read the original chassis number if its still there. It would be on the drivers side rail about a third of the way back. Its a bit tricky to determine exactly where because your chassis looks modified in this area.
If its there , it should start with an 'A'.
The crossmembers are definitely Model A.
Why was it modified?
Is it from a farm mechinery background or something?

That used to be a Model A frame...
It's a gardening cart frame now. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Was probably one of them doodlebug tractor conversions.
The rear tires are worth big money. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif(patina) http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Doodle bug or tractor made fom a Model A Ford frame. Front crossmember is V8. NOTE the rear radius rods, might be a 35-36 rear under there. Wouldn't spend over $100.00 for the deal.

looks like that might be a 35/36 front axle too...good for dropping if it is...i think the 100 would be a max for me also..but you could put a tube front cross member with the spring perch outfront and step the rear and have a nice set-up there

Shame it isnt over here...with my customer wants list at the moment , I could part that out easily.
She would be worth about $600-800 to me !!!

We are negotiating 100- for it. I have no idea why it was shortened. Was thinking that I may be able to weld on a kick-up at the back, where cut. If is no good, should be able to get my $ back out in front axle and wheels at least. On other side one hubcap is there, could be worth a couple of bucks to someone as well... thanks for the info.

Its been shortened between the centre crossmember and front crossmember ,either that or front crossmember has been moved back and front horns removed..difficult to see.
The rear crossmember and rear chassis looks as it should be.

In response to last post, is this frame usable then or should I pass on it???

Well we would use it , definitely , by grafting a new piece of channel to the front and then boxing the whole lot.
It really depends on what you want to do.
If you are intending on building a modified , there are some good parts there.

Pass on it unless its free, the front has been lopped off. A frames are easy to find.
