check out the online job sites gives you a good look at them
well i'm not very southwest, but i'm southwest of you, and that's what matters, right?
things seem to be picking up a little, but hard to say from where i'm at. most shops around here seem to be real slow yet, even with half of them closed! the shop i work at, is real fucking busy, and has been for two years, we make parts to fix blowed up people. we probably have doubled our output in the last two years. but i know we are far from a typical shop.
i'm preparing myself to not be in the industry as we know it much longer. i need to find a rod shop that needs a machinist.

I know several shop owners here in AZ and from what they tell me SLIM PICKINS . from bike /chopper shops to car /rod shops .seems like tough times right now .The only area i hear thats half way steady was aviation .good luck .

Machinists has always been a tough market in the AZ area. How about you Texas boys, what's it like over there?

Here in north Texas, jobs are definitely available. I have a neighbor who owns a machine shop that makes tooling fixtures with EDM equipment. He can't find anybody to hire.
