Carlson was an amatuer auto trimer who didn't know how to make a padded top so he did the best he could cobble together from convertible tops made for other cars. Hence all poorly made tops to this day are known as Carlson tops. You can look it up!

About the only thing worse than a poorly sloped carson top, is a car with skirts running a rake.

What a difference fixing those 2 things make.

All that thing needs is some Mercedes headlights and it would be perfect in my book...Or maybe some square headlights to match the simulated woodgrain.

The Carlson Top was first introduced by Ohio radio mogul Arthur "Big Guy" Carlson in 1978. It was developed to be used on the regionally famous custom known as the "Tarlick Cordoba".

Surely that thing can be saved, but who'd want to buy in at that kind of price just to tear it apart and remove all the offending bits?

The first Carlson top was produced by Emmit "The Stitcher" Carlson. Carlson, born in Bland Idaho was imployed as a youth, at a pup-tent manufacturer where he honed his "skills". His work features unimaginative design and generally poor porportions. He is much better known for his folding tent camper tops and yard swing canopies.
