I have the adapter plate, but what clutch housing/ pressure plate, flywheel, and disc do I use. The 52 clutch housing doesnt work with the earlier trans because the thow-out bearing doesnt reach the fingers. The 41 clutch housing doesnt fit on the 52 flywheel.

Thanks

Well bpc.......it is like this..........

You must not know how it works around here.......

I am going to give you the GENTLE version. We view this forum as a gargage or hang out. If you just walked into my shop....un announaced and said " what pressure plate and disc do I use " .... What kind of reception do you think you would recieve ?? Not very polite I imagine.

You need to fill out your profile, come back and make a introduction. Just something simple. Like..........your first name or nickname, occupation, what area of the county you are in, your age range and what you are working on. Pictures are always welcome ( Best .............that way we can see you are NOT a poser)

This forum is for Traditional Hot Rods and Customs...and related topics. Topics like parts, working on vehicles, shows and the like. You have some old Ford pieces you are working with so I think you could make it here.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Go do a good intro, and THEN come back and ask your question.........

By the way...........I do not have the answer but there are folks who do..........who have seen the question and ignored you........no intro.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

bpc, I'm sure by now you have done a proper intro, so I'll reply...
ONce upon a time in central Oregon, 1964, I bought a black 41 ford sedan from my buddy's uncle. It had the original V/8 flatmotor in it but the engine was siezed. As luck would have it, I had just rebuilt my 53 Merc engine and placed it carefully in a 50 ford crestliner.
The 50 was pretty new, for a hot rod and as any 16 year old, I wanted an old ford hot rod. I yanked the Merc motor and slid it into the 41 tudor. This has ben a few days ago so my memory isn't inclusive to all the minute details but I remember using a 50 merc adapter ring between the late flathead and the early tranny. If I remember right, I used the 50 merc flywheel, clutch and the 41 throwout bearing. Even so, I remember having to heat and twist the clutch linkage cross shaft of the 41 to get the clutch to disengage. My dad was helping me and he wasn't any more knowlegable than I was regarding the swap. I still don't know if we did it right but with his help and his torch, it worked out beautifully...
Welcome to the HAMB...
