Saw all the posts a while back about DexCool, thought I was damn glad all my shit has green stuff. My daughter came home from grad school for the summer, her 98 Camry has some kinda red shit.Car has 100K,and when she bought it about 2 years ago, think the Toyota place changed all the fluids, about 25K ago.Her red shit looks pretty crusty around the overflow tank, but I haven't had time since she got home to pop the cap with the engine cold.Is this the same red shit? Similar?Better or worse? Thanks, about all ole dad can do for her is occasional car shit, don't want to appear too stupid...But I guess after 25 years, she's probably already figured out what a dumbshit her dad is. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Toyota stuff is different, a lot better in my opinion. It gets a little crusty around the rad cap but that's to the extent of problems I have ever seen.

Where I work we are now using a "global antifreeze", I forget who makes it but it's compatible with everything, VW, GM, Toyota, you name it. It's a yellowish color. I'd do top offs with it as it's compatable with every car in your driveway. I am sure with a proper flush you could switch to glycol also.

i think the toyota red shit is organic,,,
it seems to last forever and so far as the cars i've seen works really well,,,
i don't mix it with anything else tho,,even the clear top it all off stuff,,,as it supposedly dilutes or alters it differently,,,
it also test differently than the conventional or dexcool stuff,,,

course if some fast-lube place mixed it anytime,,you'll prolly want to flush it out and start over,,,

Thanks folks,I KNEW I could get advice on this from the HAMB.It's tough when your "little girl" goes to school 450 miles away, and calls with a car problem,so I try to stay on top of her car whenever she's around, which isn't very often.Just don't trust any car when she's on the road by herself..can't afford to buy her a new one, when she gets out of pharmacy school in 2 years, she'll be able to drive whatever she wants.Guess I don't have to panic over her red stuff in the meantime..Thanks
