I have been waiting for one to start but it has not happened yet so I will do it! This post is always the highlight of my week and I need my fix. So lets see what you are all working on!

Here is what I have to contribute. I got a new press so I am going big. The first is a finished linocut 19" x 24". The other 2 are concept art for upcoming posters.

Nice work!

I've been jones'n to post as well but my my camera is with my lovely wife in the Phillipines.

I did this for Cathy H last week and she was kind enough to snap a pic of it.

Got a couple other things but they will have to wait till the Mrs. gets home on Saturday.

Let's get the party started!

KCSleds- I dig the concept art. I always love the red black and white combo. The gasser wagon is my fav.

I've been kicking around this painting for a little while and deceided to call it done early this week. 16"x20" acrylics and enamels on canvas called 'Frank'.

the background was painted with a metalic color purple which changes in the light anywhere from a blue to deep purple.

Wow, it has been a long time since I have been on the HAMB (I missed it too)...and I almost forgot about the Friday Art Shows. I would post some of my current work, but I slightly remember me causing a little too much controversy with my "non-traditional" artwork. But great work so far, keep it up.

I'm gunna hold on to it forever,so's when I get really good I'll still have an example of the early stuff....Heres a tech I did on the Jockey board for any who are curious about my edge rolling method

This is my latest stripe job. I know it does not quite compare to some of the other stripers
here (who I bow to) but here it is anyway. I know it's not car related directly but the striping
will be hopefully put to use on a car in the future.

I'm worried tho. I mean, I think your eyes must be shaped kinda like the Rat in that first drawing. Let's hope she doesn't inherit that. On the other hand, let's hope she does inherit you artistic ability 'cause she could certainly do a whole lot worse there. These all look so nice. Keep it up, you're doin great!

cool show thus far! here's two knobs i finished over the last two weeks. the first is a pretty nice cholo loco lowrider. mi impala needs one of these i think. watched blues brothers the other day and damned if it doesn't look like cab calloway's character too, what with his hat worn lower than jake and elwood. hat ribbon is all there and has a little feather sticking out of it like most hats did.

second knob is the late WWI german. i kinda wanted to do one in this vein, but really don't want to do anything nazi... this helmet originated the style that would become the evil nazi icon in WWII. fully detailed, has the liner and chinstrap rivets, as well as the two frankenstein looking lugs up top. these were vents, but stuck out to mount a piece of forehead armor upon to protect from sniping in the trenches.

helmet debuted in 1916 and was made until 1918. i have one that was painted silver when i got it and had an original in-the-trench painted camo pattern under the silver. scuffed it and found the pattern after i saw the telltale colors through some cracks in the silver. in-trench painted helmets were painted by those with some artistic experience or brush time, and didn't follow the specific patterns used by factories, and mine had an iron cross painted on its crown.

last pic is a sneak peak of THE BEST SHIFTER KNOB EVER in progress.

all of these are in wax and await mold making and aluminum casting.

chromedRAT
07-26-2007, 10:33 PM
zee german. the M1916 "stalhelms" differ from the WWII helmets in that they are taller, have the lugs for the armor plate, and have a longer bill out front.

Nice work chromed rat are you gonna try to cast them in resin. If ya need any advice on casting them shoot me pm some of the under cuts in em might make them a little difficult to do but as always theres always a way to do it it will just have to be multi peice mold.

NOT my art...
but these paintings of the Old Custom Car shops are made by Mike Scott aka The Striper from Florida's Murphy & the Striper.

He started out by doing a series on the Barris customs all parked in front of the Barris Shop with different signs/differnt years.

His lates work is from the Alexander Brothers and Darryl Starbird. And The Hartford Armory AUTORAMA 1959. Currently he is working on paintings of the Gene Winfield shop, Joe Bailon and Bill Chusenberry.

I have 11x17 prints of all of these and they are really fun to look at. Each time I look I see new things and little details I had overlooked before.

More info on these prints can be found on my website:

This guy, I didn't care for the IFS on it, but couldn't deny it was a cool car, maybe because this guy was out there working it like no other in the burnout box.

Wow the things you guy's have done are amazing, i wish i could draw and paint as good as y'all, and since i can't i've got a project for who ever wants to do it. I have a '60 effie i have to part with and i never got to do anything with it, and i would like to know if some one could to a custom rendering of it. maybe style it like you would a 49-51 merc or shoe box, low, chopped, pan caked hood, cool wheels, peep mirrors, and a heavy flake paint job, and what ever else you think is cool. here's a pic of it now, pretty sad lookin'.

i do cast multiples of most everything. i just sculpt in "victory brown" wax because it holds its form in small scale better than clay. plastilina clay absorbs heat thoroughly and quickly which makes it too soft to sculpt without distorting the whole piece. makes it convenient for doing one offs on occasion though, as i can just make the ceramic mold and cast it. for a piece i'll make duplicates of, i make a rubber mold to cast duplicate waxes from casting wax and use those to go thru the whole process. probably make some molds this week, actually.

Here is another vintage-style neon sign I just built. Made from aluminum, hand-painted and lettered, etc. etc.

That's cool, do you fix vintage ones too?

I didn't spend much time on it and didn't do what you asked. Ha
I was going to leave it as it was paintwise but chopped and lowered.

Hey Silent Orchestra, Hey LOWCAB, Thanks for the compliment Flyingpolock, I still got some detailing to go on my flying tanker to go. Also , the picture didn't do right, colors ain't right, I might post it again if I can make it look right.
Well , heres my thoughts on your 59 Ford truck. Chop it , shorten the bed a little. Mold the hood , make a grille hole and fill it with a combo of 54 Chevy tailight bezels bolted on the ends of a straightened out 53 Chevy grille bar full of middle teeth. Bias-plies chrome reversed wheels , 1 inch roll and pleats blah, blah , blah. Just having fun.:D

Many of you may have seen this before, but this time I've modified it a bit making some improvements to the 3D model, and changing the colors and adding some Rader 5 spokes. I just ordered a new fast computer so my plan is to finally finish this model by detailing the interior with tuck-n-roll and maybe modeling a bobber to put in the back!
