Heya VernTasteeFreez.....
I usually map out my image, then scuff that area only with something abrasive- like GERM brand sandpaper, clean the surface of residue, lay the graphic down, and hope for the best.....

If you've seen all the windows on Safariknut's Wagon,
you'd realize that as long as the glass is CLEAN,it's not a problem.

We have found that there are some trouble areas where a clean surface just isn't enough....for example, certain mugs,glassware,etc....of course, there isn't much you can do about scuffing an area that will only require striping...that works best with a covering graphic,in our experience.....good luck!

As long as the glass is clean you won't have a problem.

I have sold 1-shot for years,,,mostly to sign painters and they paint on store front plate glass all the time...

If you paint on glass and want it to last for years make sure you use the lettering enamel ,,,NOT the bulletin colors.

They also make a hardner #4007 to add to the 1-shot....tough to get off even with a razor blade! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif HRP

Hey VT:
I found a product that really helps 1-Shot adhere to glass. It is made by a company called,"No Touch" and it is called "Glass Stripper".It's primary use is to remove Rain-X and similar products from glass. If you've ever tried to purposefully remove Rain-X,you'll understand.
I think it's basically a semi-liquid version of Bon Ami cleaner that old sign guys used to prepare glass for gilding.
It's available through most auto supply stores and an 8oz bottle is about 9 or 10 dollars. You apply it with a clean cloth and let it,"haze over" then wipe clean.I usually follow that up with a non-ammoniated glass cleaner and I've had great results.
My side windows have been striped for nearly 5 years and aside from some very minor chipping, look as good as the day they were done.I don't take any particular precautions when I wash the car other than not getting too close with a high pressure spray.I wash them with Windex fairly often and wipe them off with a synthetic chamois and don't have any problems.I do notice that some of the striping on the windshield sides is moving a bit;probably due to the fact that I've driven through numerous rainstorms at speed and even a couple of minor hailstorms.Hope this helps.

I use a little hardener and denatured alcohol. And the denatured also cures static on plexi too.
