nailhead temp ?

I'm installing a temp gauge. The car came with light. My
question is at what piont or temp is the danger zone. My s/b chevy is around 220/230. What is the danger piont on a nailhead?

your bound to get several different responses on this issue but as an owner/driver of 7 nailhead powered cars I find that mine operates in the 180-190 range and I would be worried if it reached 230. Hope this helps.

My 401 normally runs around 180-190°, but has been up to as high as 220° on 90°+ days and in slow moving traffic - never had a boil-over or any other heat related problems.

Mine usually runs at about 160 to 180, but I'm also running a custom radiator. Before that, it would get up to 220 sometimes & I still never had a problem with it acting "hot".

My 364 tended to run a little hot for a while would get to 210 maybe 215 (don't know how accurate the gauge was) but still no problem. I had the radiator cleaned out and put in a flex fan, no problems....

My 401 ran hot due to clogged radiator, so I got to see the HOT light a few times. I think the warning light comes on at 230-240. I'd set it for 225 and be done with it.

Thanks for the imput. I'm installing the new water pump this weekend. I j/b welded the radiator. It seems to be holding. I don't trust it. The hunt goes on. Thanx guys.
