Ok.Here's the situation.I'm looking to buy a car out of TN.
The guy selling has no title because TN is pretty lax..?He has a bill of sale from the previous owner. He is emailing me the VIN number so I can check it out. How do I talk to for this?If it checks out, what is the next step? The car is a 54 chev.I really dig this car.So any help is appreciated.

Beet, I'm in Seattle.
Here's the latest.I asked the guy to give me the VIN.No Vin on the car!He said the previous owner took off the tag. (raise red flag here) I am supposed to get an email from him cuz he's supposed to talk to the guy tomorrow to get tha VIN and or tag.I'll keep you posted.

careful... he might like that!
If Wash is tight about titles i'd be real "iffy" about getting it.unless its not that much.
Try a title guy theres alot in R&C in the back of the mag, I used a guy in Md. with good results.he gave me a title & a old registration,6 yrs ago in RI you didn't need a old reg, but now you do, sremember"Buyer Beware"!!

Washington now looks up the VIN on any car brought into the state. They dropped the requirement for VIN inspection a year or two ago. You'll have to pay for a national search to confirm the VIN is not associated with a stolen car.
Provided you have a legitimate VIN and the car really isn't stolen I think you'll be okay.

I was pretty sure that TN has always been pretty tight about titles, but I'm just a kid...although my 55 has a title http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
