I started my Vtwin-800CC motor on project bike and it seems to run a little weird/kinda lean and popping.
I had to eliminate the"air box" from under the tank to allow for the relocation of radiator and electric fan.
Im running the stock air cleaner ,but now with NO AIR BOX.
,My question is -will it ever run right with out that or will I have to replace it with a hand built[hidden] one/what will it require?

<font color="green">I think it may be the DeWalt angle grinder wedged in it.
Maybe over revving that thing? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hay Rashy- thats my gas tank!haven't sealed and finished the metal ones so an old plastic gearlube bottle is the replacement......just hold it up higher than the top of tank! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don`t know shit, but would guess without the air box(some
have restrictors, air cleaners, etc.)you may be running lean?
Poping,too much air?
Bigger jets might be in order?
Good looking bike.
Good Luck...JR

is the "gastank" creating a vaccum and starving the carb? just a thought. try maybe "venting" the gastank.

I know a little about cars and a lot less about bikes-what is the purpose of the air box anyways?

Probably to reduce inlet noise.
Have you tried running it with the choke partially on to richen the mixture?

First of all was there some ype of air flow sensor inside the airbox? or in you V800 manual( you should have one) check to see if there is a sensor that adjusts the air/fuel mixture. Maybe you don't have it connected- also since this a not a trad Vtwin maybe you should check out the VOG (vulcan owners group) formun They are really helpful with tech issues like these

I am sure there was no sensor in the airbox...I tried choke -it helps......I thought Vulcan OG was defunct?.
This is prob a waste of space- Thanks guys- lets just end it here or soon......maybe I can look some other places..-Kenny
