Import crowd, L.A.

Yes, not very traditional, yet.

A guy at work is taking his 19 year old daughter on vacation to California (L.A area)in july.

This gal is heavily into what you call imports (Fast & Furious kind).
Do these guys have cruise nights, meets, THE shop to check out etc??? Can someone make some recomendations?

Yeah I know, we dont like them, they don't like us, but often we know more about each other than we care to admit.

If you're feeling adventerous, the street races out on Alemeda on saturday nights.

I've seen 7 second camaros face off on the streets for $5k and 600hp Supras out there. I used to go in 1998 or 99 a lot. I don't recommend going out there without your head on your shoulders and some decent street smarts. The cops show up nearly every time, so make sure to park where you can get out before anyone else. Bring a lowkey car. Its been a long time since I went, but I believe it still goes on. Its no BS. Everyone used to meet at spires off the 91 before Alameda, or the exit with the Del Taco and Carls Junior on opposite corners just down the way. If your daughter is into that whole fastnfurious nonsense there is no better place for her to see the real deal I guess.

There is nothing wrong with imports if they are built right, not everyone can afford street rods, hot rods or what ever term you like to use. Just think what the old farts back in the 50s and 60s used to say about hot rodding...hmmmmmm think about it. I would agree that the import world is getting a little old and I am tired of looking at riced out cars myself and seeing kids think their little shit boxes are quick but its all relative.

I think anything that can get as much HP as an import with half the displacement is cool, just my oppinion.

Etiwanda area used to be a cool import scene to hang out in but the Police usually keep that area cleared out. Just drive the streets on any given Friday night and she will see her fill of imports!

I had a '71 Datsun 510 4-door that I put a Mazda 13b rotary in. 3" straight exhaust and BRE wheels, coil-overs and camber plates, THAT was an import rod. Damn thing would get airborne on our screwy Austin streets. There was nothing, absolutely nothing, regardless of price range, that could touch it. I killed Ferraris with that thing. Should never sold that one. Jap rods kick ass!!

Well, last week her dad showed her a pic of the new Ford GT, a car for which I would gladly give up ever piece iron I own and some body parts.
