I definately want to attend the drags... however my roadster might be a bit non- traditional (more late 60's) but I'd like to get a few timed runs in to see what it'll do in the quarter.
I'm looking for real numbers and I know that my local track I'd have to pass NHRA/IHRA inspection and that won't happen this year.
Basically it's a 2,000 Lb. Roadster with a "Stock" Olds 455, 4 wheel disk brakes on "Street Tires".
For the most part the car is "Safe" and I will have a SNELL brain bucket and seat belts. But I won't have a roll Bar installed in it for this years event.
Do you think they'd let me run???
Would I be able to make an exhibition pass (solo) to get an accurate time?
Because if they don't I won't be attending... seems like a long way to go to get rejected at the track.
Do you think it's possible...???

your roadster sounds safer than mine and i run the piss out of mine last year. roadsters need a helmet and i put a seatbelt in but have no rollbar. all the track did was ask over the p.a. to make sure your ride didnt leak.

If you DON'T show up with the roadster I'm gonna send Kyle up there to kick your ass. :D Your car fits in, don't know about a solo run but once you run it down the track you will be back in line to do it over and over again.
Besides, you gotta be there, you owe me a beer.

O.K. guys, I don't want to throw cold water on this deal but,...
The roadsters with no roll bar make me nervous. We have let them run, but they were 15 second less than 80 mph type stuff.
A 2000 lb roadster with a 455 sounds more like a low 13 or high 12, getting over 100 mph.
Would you want to see a HA/GR running without a roll bar?
Not to be a smart ass here, but why not just weld in a roll bar?
Here are our general safety regs. Common scene stuff.

You could throw in a roll BAR not a full blown cage.
Just remember....it may be the only thing between your head and the asphalt.

I'll be there with pants on.
Wing, my T ran right at 14. Any faster and a hoop over my head would make me feel better. (thats why I am going to build a real dragcar)I would say you will run high 13s. Adding a nice hoop for the weekend wouldnt be too big of a deal.

I hope to get a few runs in before the sun goes down. My truck needs a sun dial instead of a stop watch. Keith
See, thats the thing. It takes one hell of a car to go faster than 13's. Even with our jalopies. Look at Abone...........dude is pushing several hundred horsies to get as fats as he does..........more than us pussies. AND HE HAS A ROLLBAR.
Most of our cars are just quick streeters, thats all.

What was Flamedabone running last year? 12.80 unblown? Somebody bring some slicks for that boy! I'm going to try some for the first time.
I have a little four point roll bar as well. Seemed like the hot rod thing to do when I was building her.

Dude! Wingnutz, I wish my dad and I were bringing our roadster just so you and I could race! That would be a bad ass match up!

"Catch you at the Strip...!"
