I think my digital camera needs to be put to sleep... Its such a pain to deal with now... and its hard to see the screen in the sun.

Resized these at work, not using my usual software, so I lost the ability to crop... I always shoot wide, crop later... ok, enough excuses, these pix just suck then!

The absofuckincoolest thing there was this 1919 Indian. Talked to the guy who owned it... he didnt want to talk back much. Either way, I got to see a 95 year old bike go down the strip!

I was going for the "Mahalo, bruddah, my name Rick Amado" look... besides, liquid cooled footwear is the greatest on hot asphalt... ya simply dump yer water bottle on your feet.

Mahalo bruddah? I believe that's pidgin for "Suck my anus, Jason". and hooligan's right.. KOOKs wear Tevas (which for you, is apropos). it's blown out Reef slappers for my feets.

and for the record; I surf, but I'm not 'a surfer'
-Just because you own the 'fro and the platforms, doesn't automatically make you a Solid Gold dancer...

nice pics by the way, I really like the tungsten-film-in-daylight shot at the end.

Us old farts were there, hooked up with Zibo, Rickey, Killer, John, TV/HRV. I was looking for Evel and Bob but didnt see you guys at the picnic this year, and then with the different wheels-plus-beers I didnt make a connection at all. The purple T that smacked was Olive Moore, who's a regular racer with the FAST/4Ever4/MAFCA, and whose husband is Art Moore, the guy in the wheelchair. They are VERY nice people and lets hope she's OK.

I got there late, like 1:45... I cant do mornings anymore with my work schedule.

"Tommy... do have a fairy god mother? No, but I got an uncle we keep a close eye on"... got to see some BITCHEN' hot rods... got to run the BFD (went one round and then lost to that coupe pictured up there by .028 of a second... beat the guy on the tree... but the car started hopping due to the rough track and didn't "run the number"... and, I got to hang out with my beautiful wife Katie all weekend!

Yep, very cool to meet you too Evel... and to see TV again... and Homeresque... But did Killer ever show up?? I wanted to chat with him.

I heard about Olive Moore from my buddy Tim who heard from Jerry Brierly that she is ok. They had to do exploritory surgery... and had to pull something out... he said that she would be sore, but fine.

I am so glad too... I chatted with her and her husband the night before, and they are really special people.

And he brought back Rod & Custom in the 80's, built the Low Buck Special Altered, owns a bitchen '32 Ford roadster, owns the Frank Iacono Dragster, has written numerous books about hot rods and customs and people like Ed Roth... and... and... just finished a book on Von Dutch that he has spent the last 25 years working on...

Moldy spanked him though, We had a blast, better than any other event I been at. My toilet went 21.9 @60 mph. Surprised the shit outta me! Creeper

Elevation was at 3000+ feet (taking in consideration temp, pressure etc.) so the times were down to 11.15's

I didn't make a jet change... but because the car ran fat (rich) it ran consistent... Unfortunately on my last run the car started hopping due to the rough track and it slowed to an 11.38 on my 11.15 dial-in. I beat the guy on the tree... but still lost by .023 of a second.

It was big fun at the end doing almost 120 and closing in on him... one of these days I'll get it on film for you all!

Sam.

burndup
06-09-2004, 03:02 AM
yeah, I saw that hopping on that last run... Bunch of the dragsters were having that problem it seemed. It was either you, or somebody else, had to actually let off a tad to get rid of it...

The tall dude with the yellow hat is Pat Ganahl.
Used to be the editor of Street Rodder years ago, always had a good down to earth hands on approach to his work.
He was also part of the Rod n Custom magazine revival, and (I think) involved with Rodder's Journal.
