Hey guys, and gals of course. I tore into the front brakes/drums etc today to prep them for paint. I found some nicer pieces to use (48 style backing plates) than the 40 stuff I had. Only prob is that I found one brake shoe retainer clip missing with a piece of strap stickwelded in its place! Does anyone have a spare clip floating around? They are the little "U" saped spring steel clips that retain the center of the brake shoe and slip into the slot in the backing plate. Also, I found that one of the brake shoes was a 40!? I need the flat sided CAM to make a full set of 48 shoes fit! I have some of the 40 harware that I can trade if needed? TIA, Trent

On the horseshoe clip thingy, although they are readily available from early Ford places I used to get mine from a rack of Bendix type hardware stuff at the parts store--actual application unknown, bur doubtless something common since it was out on the rack. Drum brake parts probably aren't kept out in public anymor, but get them to drag out a brake hardware catalog.

Thanks Bruce, nice to know. I suppose the reason Farmer brown welded a tab on and was running one 40 shoe was because he lost/broke something and had to make do!
