I know I've seen this brought up before and I attempted a search on it but got overwhelmed with the number of posts I was confronted with ( i looked thru 4 pages!)
my pinion turns twice to just shy of 2 revolutions on the axle
thanks!

If you have an open rear .... HOLD one wheel still..... turn the other wheel TWO FULL TURNS and count driveshaft revolutions .....that's It !!! With a posi--turn either wheel ( BOTH should turn in the same direction if it's a posi) and count driveshaft revolutions .....

one wheel is on the ground and immobile so I just turned the one side and counted, I just double rechecked it again and I come up with the same, any idea what gearing I got in the rearend?
2 revolutions on the driveshaft to just shy of one on the axle
Bonus Built site saids "The rear gear ratio on an F1 is 3.91:1." is stock on a 49 f1, if thats the case it would be acceptable for me

Like skipperman said, hold one wheel still and turn the other 2 TURNS. Count the driveshaft revolutions then. A non posi rear, you must turn it two turns.
It sounds like you're going to have something just short of 4 to 1. Your 3.90 whatever is probably right.
