Hi,
I noticed in Rat Rodders posting on the York PA meeting , there were a lot of old travel trailers in the background.
I love old trailers , teardrop through to the full size Spartans etc. so could you guys post some pics of your trailers for me?
I'll start proceedings with mine , not vintage but a re-creation.
Thanks

Here's an early morning shot of us at the drags at Avon Park. I managed to find an awning that fits really well up to the side of the teardrop, which you can see here.

That tear with the pop up is cool, I keep seeing a couple of good ol caravans where we have our beach house (ones like something outa the Rocketeer) but knowing how bad our one is chassis wise due to the salt I imagine this one to be pretty sad, guess I should wander down and enquire one day.

I had a 1946 teardrop that was very rounded aluminum and I saw Grumman Aircraft Tags on it (stamped metal)...! I bought it for $50 and sold it for $200 a week later!
Found out that it was made from salvaged WWII Aircraft and that the cook station was an actual Military mess set and was worth Many hundreds more...! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I've never seen another like it anywhere nor have I seen any teardrop that was as Aerodynamic as this one...!
Has anyone ever seen a Grumman Teardrop...??? Got Photo's...???

My parents have a '67 Aristocrat Land Cruiser 13-footer that they quit using when they bought a NEW big ass 36' slide-out. I'm going to buy it from them soon. It's sitting on widewhites, moondiscs, and it's white & maroon.
It's the same year & model trailer that sparked the divorce of Elvis & Priscilla when she turned into a hippie... here's a pic of their at the St. Louis Museum, since I don't have a pic of ours...

I've seen that trailer at the portland swap meet. It's a cool little trailer.
Gracie -- If you get that Spartan I'd like to volunteer to provide the tow vehicle and my services as driver/chef. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
I seriously considered buying this 33-foot Spartan several years ago. Full interior restoration/upgrade of an excellent original (check out the exterior which is completely untouched). The stainless stairs (built for dealership and show "foot traffic") were included in the $5600 asking price. It was located in Arizona, and the property was also a "do-able" deal.

It was long gone before I had the bucks to own it. No trailer as handsome as a Spartan . . .
This is one of my favorite teardrops . . . great details, leaning toward art-deco.

A bit of a side note/question: wasn't there a tow dolly (Watson dolly?) used to tow those big trailers? I'm sure few people had 1 ton trucks to tow those big trailers back in the 40's and 50's! It seems like there was a mention of one of those dollies in that Lucielle Ball movie "The Long Trailer" (I think that was the title http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif ). Anyone ever see one of those things or even used one?
One more . . .

<font color="green"> Hey AV8, thought you may like a couple of links if you don't already have these. First is a guy restoring one. Don't what's up now though, last entry was in 2001. Second has all kinds of stuff about the trailers and company. Along with a resto.
