Last week I posted the start of one of the paintings I was working on.
I had bee trying to get itdone for last weeks show but got too busy. This week I had time to work on it.
Here is what I showed last week for the start of the painting, just the sketch
and some white and brown thrown on to get the feel of where I wanted
to go with it. This photo got a bit deformed. The final shown is more accurate.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v178/lowcab/START.jpg

This was one of those paintings again that gave me a bit of trouble but
it worked out in the end. Yes the windshield was left on purpose.
It is supposed to be a last run taken before heading home from the lakes.
I hope you like it. Finished on Tuesday. 12 X 36 Acrylics.

Great show so far, I want to put on something that I last worked on in '97. Since I been contributing to the art show, its got me in the mood to finish this thing. Next time you see it , it might be in color or get a lot more ink. It's just a typical fantasy bonneville scene, with Divco wheels, hemi and halibrands. Sometimes I "F" things up when I decide to use color thats why I have left like it is till now. Enjoy.:D

This might be only interesting to me, but here is a old letter from Pat Ganahl telling me why this drawing wouldn't reduce in size without losing detail. This may have been about the last time I tried to get stuff in magazines.
Pat would always write me back and bend over backwards to help me. I treasure these letters, even this rejection letter of sorts. I always have been drawing these Barris syle 41-48 Fords, I love them.
I always tell people I've been rejected by the best.

That's as good as most stuff the "majors" run. And your black&white style should work great even at 2-1/2" wide. Get back into it, man.

Oh the first group drawing is cool too - kinda "R. Crumb" but tighter (and no BB chicks).

I got to put on something else. Doane Spencer's 32 and Dick Flint's Model A. I always thought about what if they would have hooked up on the highway somewhere in So Cal . when they were are on the street. It's getting old and some of the ink is messing up, it might not last much longer, so I like to get it out here on the net. It's about 2 1/2 feet in dia. and took a long time to do. I like to think of those famous old rods in normal situations and try to capture it, since you can't be there.

Don't mean to blow your head up too much, but...
I love the reflections in the Doane car - and you obviously know your technicals on these cars.

You may know this but - if you take your drawings to a good blueprint house they can run big full sized "black line" copies. The results will even-out the black tones for an even better look. I used to have "stat" paper prints made of my stuff but I don't know if anybody still does those anymore.

Keep posting.

just finished my "Evil Tiki" that i've been workin on this week at work. :D i think i have more time in the background than the Tiki mask.

i've only recently started drawing much again and using color so i'v ebeen experimenting alot with these sketches. i never used to do backgrounds either but they do make the picture more interesting.

i also picked up my Lesley Slenning prints from being framed and matted. :D YAY!!! now i gotta find a place to hang em... also picked up some better frames for all my April May photos. that little chicky ROCKS!!

I just did this for BIG BLOCK SCOTTY.
I thought it came out pretty cool so here it is in the art show.
I'm attaching the before photo and how it turned out.

This one was my favorite of all the concepts, the fendered one being a close second. If I build it close to this, I'll make sure and give you concepting credit ;-)

THANKS!

I rarely get a chance to continue practicing with the brush and 1-shot but I managed to free up a few minutes and do this on the decklid of my gal's '53 Chevy which will soon be sanded down and painted, haha. (Sorry about the neck ache!)

I did this one a while back...striped on an old gas can and "weathered" the fresh striping to match the age of the can...

Interesting projects are hard to find and your truck is totally interesting.
One of these days I'm going to build one like it for myself. Hopefully!

Thanks for the compliment, I have 16x20 prints of all my black and white vintage racing stuff, they are limited editions of twenty each. I still have some of my originals too. I can get prints of the color ones too if interested. I'm in the process of getting my site changed to show prices and descriptions. Email me if you're interested.

Yes, it's a coaster, just messing around waiting for a leather order to arrive. I got the design from Triumph Terror,I put that design on the seat of his blue BSA chop.

Not exactly car-related, but at least there's a girl. This is for a local theatre.
