Just got home from the big trip out west. It was crazy. I can't even believe it........
I've been out west several times with the band, but I've never really got to see much except punk rock dives, and those are the same where ever you go....
Besides those tours, I never had really been on a trip for more than a couple days, much less a couple weeks.
It all started last fall when I was helping Jaker mount the Y block in the 27 he bought from me. It was late October and Hot Rod season was pretty much over in WI. We were talking about how all the Cali guys diddn't know how good they had it. We started to talk about west coast shows and how Paso seemed to be the coolest one. We kept talking about it and made plans to go. Jake set a goal to get his roadster drivable for the show and I had some "other" reasons for wanting to take my roadster and Laura to Cali.
It was basically garage talk at the time, but we kept talking about it and started to make real plans. As the months went by Jake's roadster started to take shape. I built the RPU with plans of selling it before we went, but that diddn't work out quite right and caused a lot of stress. I wasn't sure if I was going to pull it off, but I had to get there. As luck would have it, Wingnutz (the nutz stands for what he drives me most the time HaHa) gave me a deposit on his roadster frame and completely saved my ass.
This enabled me to sort out the RPU when I got back and give me some time to help Jake finish his roadster in time. We were leaving in less than a week and he had barely even fired it, but he was determined to take it. He had all of his friends working like mad men and was able to fire it up and drive it the night before we left.
I can't even tell you how proud I am for him. He set his goal and met it. That rules. There was alot of people who told him there was NO way he would have it running in time, I even had my doubts, and I was the one who kept telling him he could finish it "No Problem."
It was a mad dash but his friends, especially Chris and CAS made it happen for him. It was really exciting when he drove it for the first time, even though it was pouring rain. AWSOME.
We planned on loading everything up in the morning and take off. With all the rain and the fact that none of us had really slept much in the last few days, we got a late start. We ended up finally leaving at around 4:00 Sat afternoon. We left in Jakes truck, towing this big ass trailer that we borrowed from my uncle with the roadsters in it. We were off.
The plan was to trailer the cars to LA and then Drive them up the coast to PASO. The trip out went really well, no mishaps at all. Besides some bad weather and a 4 hour detour by Las Vegas everything went great.
We arrived in LA at Evel's house and unloaded the roadsters. Evel wasn't home at when we arrived. He had been telling me all week that his good friend who was the bass player in some stupid band was going to be staying with him as well. He was picking up that dude from the airport when we showed up. I was floored when that dude ended up being my little Mexican friend Max Wedge! That was a funny suprise.

That night we headed to Hollywood and over to visit Bobby Green. His collection of stuff is unbeilevable. he's got good taste. It's probably the coolest garage I've ever been in. I forgot to take pics.
Evel made us go to bed early so we could wake up and get the grand tour. He was really excited to show us around.
We woke up early and headed to the Peterson Museum. It is unreal! There was a salt flat display that included the Pierson Bros Coupe. There is really so much there it is overwhelming. By far my Favorite car was the Doane Spencer Roadster. It was crazy to see it in person. It gave me some good ideas.

Then it was off to Barris where we got to meet George and Bret. It was AWSOME! we were there for a few hours listening to stories and climbing in and out of some of the Barris cars. I couldn't believe how nice they were. They gave us the run of the place.
Evel is CONNECTED.

Max Wedge was there in force.
http://img36.photobucket.com/albums/v110/bobbleed/paso/13.jpg
Then it was off to Hollywood Hot Rods. Troy is a really nice guy and this shop is first class. There is a big future for this place and I wish them the best. It was great to meat them and that they let us look around.

Then later that evening Jake and Jen and Laura and I took the roadsters down to Venice Beach. It was cool to finally see the ocean after all that driving across the country.

http://img36.photobucket.com/albums/v110/bobbleed/paso/17.jpg
Later that night we went to some kooky bars in Hollywood. It was pretty Kick Ass to drive the roadster through Hollywood at night.
That night me and Laura stayed at my friend Peter's house. We woke up the next day and went to the park up by the Obsevatory.
THIS WAS THE REASON I WENT ON THIS TRIP.
We drove the roadster up into the hills and I pulled over and told Laura there was something for her in the glovebox...........
Anyway we got engaged.
She is the coolest. For years I have wanted to Marry her, but I always thought I was too much of loser. I thought I needed to get my shit together. I finally realised that she is what holds me together in the first place.
I finally AM getting my shit together..........

The funny part is a few weeks earlier Jake told me he was going to propose to Jen on this trip. I first congradulated him and then told him he was a FAG for having the same idea as me. HaHa
It was a bizarre deal, but while Me and Laura were in the Mountains, Jake and Jen were getting engaged on the beach, but that's his story to tell...........
It was a little cheesy that it worked out that way, but I wouldn't change a thing.
So after all the gushing we got back to Hot Rods and visited the Moon shop. It was really cool all the guys there loved the roadster and they brought us back into the shop to show the new fuel injected strombergs. It was really nice of them, so I diddn't have the heart to tell them that I think those set ups are Fucking Gay.

Then the next morning Flt Blk showed up in the little truck all the way from Texas and we headed on to Paso. It was an AMAZING drive up the PCH.
About an hour into it we met up with SAVAGE. It was really cool to meet him. That coupe is AWSOME. I knew it was going to be fun as soon as we took off. He drives like a MotherFucker! From that point on I was doing my best just to keep up with him. We must have been doing well over 100 at times.

Paso at last.
http://img36.photobucket.com/albums/v110/bobbleed/paso/23.jpg
We finally got to Paso and the cruise and A&W were in full swing it was great to meet everyone. The whole thing was overwhelming.

Jake and I never registered and everyone said that if your not registered that you need to park at the Gas station and park there by 5:0O am. That's gay.
Our room was a half an hour away, so we realised it was best to let the girls sleep there and for us to just hang out in Paso all night and go back to the room in the morning to sleep after we parked the cars.
We ended up staying up all night with these guys from the Auto Butchers from East LA. Those guys rule. It was one of the funnest times of the trip.
The next day was the big show and most of you have seen the pics. I really liked this bike.
http://img36.photobucket.com/albums/v110/bobbleed/paso/25.jpg
The highlight for sure was when Scratch stripped my roadster. It was great to meet him. He's a cocky fucker, but I like him anyway... HaHa
http://img36.photobucket.com/albums/v110/bobbleed/paso/28.jpg
It was really an awsome show. Everyone was so nice. Everywhere I went I met someone from the HAMB. Donnie is the Metal Flake King. It was great to talk to Cole. Germ is a FREAK but I had his back in case any of the rockabillies attacked.. ...
Flt Blk Tyler took all of us Wisco fags out for dinner on Sat night. He is the coolest.
Thanks to all of you I met.
Sunday we wondered around a bit and then headed back to LA. My radiator exploded coming down one of the mountains so me and Laura got a coolant bath. It is no big deal. It will be fixed.
Monday Morning we sent the girls off to the airport and headed to Evel's so I could do some work to his roadster.
I suicided the front end and did my trademark "Bleed Sweep" to his frame. Basically it gave him a good idea of how it will sit. That is going to be a special car with lot's of really talented people working on it. "The Madster"
http://img36.photobucket.com/albums/v110/bobbleed/paso/29.jpg
Then we left for home Monday night. The ride home went well, with only a flat tire and a Tornado, getting in the way.
A big thanks to EVEL for showing us around and making us feel so welcome.
