El Mirage and La Roadster show

I am going to be going from Indy to LA on the 12th to go to El Mirage, and hang around for a week to go to the LA Roadster show anyone know of any other "must do" things going on that week?

I ain't even from LA and can probably help you a little with this one! Friday nite should be held open for Bob's Big Boy in Toluca Lake-think Burbank. Generally, lots of customs, "rat-rods", street rods and muscle cars coming and going all nite long. That's if you can get away from the open house at So-Cal. Also, if you gat a chance, take in the Petersen Museum as it is really worth while for any gearhead to see. I don't know if you are into old planes or not, but the Chino Air Museum (at the Chino Airport)is great fun. The Nethercutt Car Museum up in Sylmar is fabulous if you like looking at Duesenbergs (pant-drool), Packards Pierce Arrows and such. The museum is free but you have to call first to arrange a guide. Free, in LA-you have got to go for it! Also, every Friday morning at the restaurant located at the airstrip adjacent to the Pomona dragstrip, Pete Chapouris and his crew from So-Cal meet to go over all the stuff going on at their shop. And, a little side trip up to see what's happening at California Metal Shaping would be in order. That's Marcel DeLay's shop where he and his son's beat out some of the best metal panels seen by mankind. And, I know this will get me razzed by lots of folks, but a trip to Boyd's if you have the time is always fascinating. There is some wild stuff going on there. Try to avoid preconceptions as some of their work is truly amazing. This should keep you busy!
