Can anybody give me some input on this? I am running a stock model a front end on the RPU project. Should I remove the stock wishbones and use the 42 bones I have? If so, do I need to modify the angle where they recieve the pin? Do I need to shim? Any input would help. Thanks

dont use the later front end. it shortens the wheel base. i went though the same thing on my car, the late front end is a endless headache. we are taking about a model A RPU?

If you're talking about splitting the bones then you can go either way with no trouble but the later bones may look better if you're suiciding the front end 'cuz they're longer. You may have to piecut the bone right behind the forged front yoke if the caster angle you want on the axle puts the back end of the uncut bone where you don't want it. Get the Speedway Motors weld-on threaded bungs that are meant for use with normal tie-rod ends. Plenty of other ways to attach the tie-rod end but this is one of the simplest and it looks good.

Darwin thanks.I am suiciding the front end.The front end set up is a stock 28/29 front end.I found these cut down stock model a wheels cut to 16's that I will be using. No front brakes, but something a little different.

Jetcity, Could you post a photo of the "cut down Model A wheels"? That doesn't sound right, would like to know what they are.

I'll post a pic later. Take a stock 19 inch model a wheel.Take the spokes out.Cut them down to fit in a 16 inch rim. relace.wash, rinse, repeat.

No front brakes? Assorted issues of coolness notwithstanding I, and I'm sure most of those here on the board,
STRONGLY recommend that you reconsider that route. Even cars with super skinny front tires get much of their braking power from the front. Even if you put monster Mickeys on the back you'll still get way shorter stops with any sort of front brake at all. Lotsa drag cars don't have 'em but unless you're planning to pop a chute at every stoplight then do whatever it takes to get some front brakes on there. The worst shitbox econocar out there will be able to stop in half the distance you'd be able to without front brakes.
