The moment you've all been waiting for. The final photos of the peaked hood that KustomBuilder and Roadstar worked so hard on. A very special thanks to KustomBuilder for the metalwork and to Roadstar for all bodywork and finishing. The amount of work to accomplish that little peak is mind boggling. I had no clue. I'm very thankful and appreciative that they are both good friends of mine and willing to help with the sometimes overwhelming undertaking of "Project Big Olds"

It's hard to see the peak with the sun reflecting off the hood. These were just some quick shots before I went cruzn and I wasn't really thinking when I took them. I'm sure I'll take some better ones this weekend at the party and Billetproof. Been thinking about sticking on the stainless side spears and beltline trim for the summer. Might dress up the grey primer alittle more http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hmmm, I dunno. After looking at it now, I think you should have run the peak all the way down the front. Is it too late to change it? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks good Denise. Thanks for the pics of the whole car. I think Bradberry hit the nail on the head with that photoshop. Hmmmmmm....
I'm thinkin' Donzie is headin' in the right direction with continuing the peak down the front of the hood. I'd fair the lower end of the peak into a tight-radius lip formed across the forward edge of the hood, blended into a lip on the forward fender edges of the grille-surround that ran down to the ends of the upper grille bar and faded just as it reached the horizontal grille finisher.
Now, a suggestion, folks, about getting your pics ready for the 'net . . . Looks like you might be getting a bit too "sharpness-happy." Lines that should be straight and crisp show up on my screen as raggedy "sawtooths" that, in my experience, result from an extra level or two of sharpness being selected when finalizing an image before sending it to a disc for storage or the Internet for transmission.
Just a suggestion . . .

When I download your pictures and view them in Adobe Photo, they look terrific, which tells me that there's a problem somewhere along the line.
Just something to think about . . .

That was a hell of a lot of work for something that looks like it has always been there. But then that is the magic of being subtle: People can't work out just what it is that makes your vehicle so different http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Denise, the hood peak looks great! However, don't stop now as I'm thinking that Bradberry has hit the old nail square on the noggin'. Skirts, chopped Carson top, Caddy caps and a beautiful shade of Candy red-what could be better!!! Perhaps, you will need another "beater" while Big Olds is in for the remaining surgery, as it will take some time. Looking forward to seeing you at Indy.
I appreciate the work that went in the peaking of the hood.
I had the priviledge of watching the metal working skills of Kustombuilder in person.
He and Sirstude spent a whole saturday on the hood, but I do not know how many hours of work went in it before Saturday, and there was alot of time spent.
Then, after the weekend Thrash on Big Olds, there were more hours spent by Mike and Rudy.
Not an easy task, but well worth the effort.
Now for a road not followed by the others, I vote for the Americans back on Big Olds.
I am so used to seeing it with the Salty Torq Thrusts.
Sorry.
At any rate, Denise, you are a lucky gal, but you deserve all the hard work that went in your car by the folks that have contributed.
Rock on, Girl!

Peaked hood looks great Lady! I have to agree with some, skirts, chopped carson, and definitely full covers on those wide whites. Great looking car you have there!
Need another project???
Good parts car! What did they do to this hood?47 olds (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6391&item=24803406 16&rd=1)

Please put some hub caps on him will ya' Denise?

The one you posted is missing it's fender extensions and has the grill from a 49-51 Olds. I wonder if the new owner would be interested in purchasing the wide stainless trim piece that runs down the center http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

REALLY??? What weekend you have free sweetie http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
AV8, I do know what you mean about things looking squiggly. All I do is resize my photos to fit Ryans server's requirements. I don't play with any of the other adjustments. When I used Star, the photos seemed to be clearer. I plan on checking out some of the other free photo hosting sites as soon as I have a few extra minutes.
As far as the Americans, I like them as well. The red wheels and tires that are on Big Olds now belong to Roadstar and as far as I'm concerned he can keep those bias ply tires. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Too rough of a ride for me. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
I have two complete sets of steel wheels myself (thanks to Dad and Fart Cat) that just need some paint and tires. All in dues time. As soon as I get my set on I'll decide on what covering for the wheels.
Bradberry, your photoshop does look cool but I'm leaning towards copper for color and definantly a folding top.

Chop it. Drop the folding top mechanism down inside the car so it looks chopped but still folds up. Whatever you can do to make it look like Bradberry's rendering.
