Some of you are still useing pictures posted on Starblvd.net for your avitars under your name. Several are useing pics from Denise's albums there. This creates a problem. As Starblvd is currently slower than the breakdown rate of granite in the wind, when I try to save tech posts that contain these damned avitars or links to Starblvd.net the program just hangs trying to download the picture. Please change these references to Starblvd.net asap. This screws up downloading about a third of the posts in tech-o-matic and some of the new tech week posts.
C9's latest post is an example. If you look at it online, you will see that it hangs up trying to load hotrodladycruzr/1-2-2.jpg...
Same problem with Hack's engine posts ti tech-o-matic and many others. You can look at them online (Except for the unloaded pics), but you can't save them as an HTML or MHT file.
Thanks

Ryan or Grim can you pin this till everyone sees it?
Starblvd was great while it worked, but it's too slow to use anymore.

Use another free photo site to post your pictures. fotki.com will allow a limited amount of free space. I think it's like 10 megs. lots of other sites out there too. If you just delete the avitar or use one from somewhere else, it will also change it on every post you have on the board. Including the tech-o-matic stuff. On the other hand, if your pictures in your tech were on Starblvd, you'll have to upload them somewhere else and re-do the post. There are only a few of these tho. Most of the problem seems to be with Avitars taken from Denise's or my pictures on Starblvd.

Any pics in my posts are either uploaded directly to the HAMB, or some past ones were hosted on Imagestation...before I learned how to scan and save pics small enough to upload directly.
My avatars are all hosted on the HAMB to avoid problems.

Yup, the problem is that someone who replied to your posts had a pic or avitar hosted on Starblvd. Try to download your engine techs and you'll see the problem. Look for someone who has space for an avitar under their name but no picture showing. That'll probably be the one.

You can't link pictures from a free Fotki account, they won't show up.

Oh, DUH!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I didn't think of avatars in the RESPONSES to the post!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
I know my 305 post used pictures from Imagestation, so that one will probably be really slow!
I've noticed that some threads take a few seconds to load...usually after about ten seconds, if there's a problem with an image, a little red x just appears...but I'm using a pretty quick cable connection...might be a REAL bitch with dial-up???

Mine's a paid account now but I posted pics from my free account before I paid so I could use more space.
I wish it would just time out and give me the red X but all it does is sit there forever waiting for the pic to load. Is there a way to adjust the amount of time explorer will wait for a pic before giving up and giving you the red X?
I still have a bunch of pics on starblvd, including the tech post pics i did on chopping my 53 for our first tech week..
Probably one of the reasons it never got saved in the tech-o-matic. None of them show up anymore.
I havn't been able to successfully open the Starblvd account for a while now.
I've started using Photobucket.com too. It's always fast.
I would like to go back to starblvd just to close the account and delete my pics, but i don't even have the patience for that..
Oh well..

Bring up the picture and right click on it. Select properties and you'll see the URL for the picture ending with the filename.jpg. Hilight the whole URL and hit CTRL-C.
That will save the URL in memory. Then go to your avatar setup where it asks you for your URL to the picture you want to use. Put the cursor in the box and hit CTRL-V. That will copy the URL from memory to the box.
i'll go with the exclusive red x until i figure something else out, just for you smokin joe! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I see you got it figured out. Thanks guys, I was able to save most of what's in tech-0-matic finally. Going to have to find another way to save the few that have Starblvd pictires in the posts, but changing those avatars saved me a bunch of hours.
