Always loved hot rods, anything fast, read Hot Rod and misc mags for years but have to say Ol Skool Rodz is now my favorite. Over the years growing up and driving I had a 69 Mustang Coupe, a 70 Fastback and then a 94 Cobra, and dare I say it, an 84 Camaro when I got a good deal. Those were all daily drivers in Colorado, sometmies not so much fun in the snow. Now daily driver is a 97 Yukon, perfect for doing all the chores my wife has me do. Nice things is I can fit a lot of parts in there when I haul them around and go to swap meets etc. Two kids keeps me hopping, but my wife loves the curvy shape of the 50's cars, so....

My Brother in law has a 37 Ford, and a 69 Convert Camaro, and that got me itchin for some V8 steel, but with no money, I have been taking the long winding road to get there. Picked up a 52 Chevy 4 door for $500, straight and almost rust free. Nephew wrecked his Camaro and had to get it out of his apartment complex in a big hurry, so paid him $400 for the 350/350 and rear end. That was about all I could get in the time I had, unfortunately. So finally have the engine and tranny mounts welded in after what, 5 years? and moving slowly. ....I got a virtual brand new 700R4 tranny from a guy for fixing his jukebox, so deciding whether to drop that in, or to try to trade for something else....Anyone? Anyone?

But hey, its fun and I go to all the car shows I can, hang out with a bunch of old fart car guys and am slowly learning a few things.

And, if anyone ever needs some billiard supplies, I am your man for a trade perhaps?

Welcome...Cool car. Old farts and an understanding wife, sounds like you already won the battle...that car should practically build itself.

Alot of good info here, if you dont mind a tip, use the search option before asking questions and try not to use the term RatRod, you'll get eaten alive. Alot of people enjoy trampling the "new guy".
I wish you well and hope you get that sweet Chevy running.

Have a good one, Michael
